stutter during acceleration
2002 Pontiac Bonneville sle non supercharged. The other day I was waiting in line at the bank for about 10 minutes when my car, to what it seemed like, started to miss. I help the rpm up to about 2 grand and an unbunrned few smell began. About a minute later it ran like normal again. Another five minutes later it started doing the same thing and stayed that way. I diagnosed it to be the ignition control module. Replaced it, worked for the half hour I test drove it. Went to leave this morning with it, was idling fine, drove down the road fine, but than when I began to accelerate to get on the highway it started missing. Drove it around for about an hour and it ran fine until I would accelerate. Scanned the car, came up with nothing except for a evap code and a maf code. The maf sensor has been unplugged for about 6 months since I was having issues with it than so that explains the code. The spark plugs are brand new and the plug wires, LIM , UIM, alternator, head gaskets, and coolant elbows were all replaced two summers ago. I checked all the coil packs and they seem to be in order.
What Is my next step?
Thanks

Re: stutter during acceleration
How about running a MAF sensor.
Re: stutter during acceleration
fueling is going to be off if you are not running a MAF.. start by plugging it in then clear codes and diagnose.

Re: stutter during acceleration
I plugged in the maf sensor last night cleared the codes and drove it around for about a half hour and rescanned the car. Only the evap code was up again. I've had it plugged in all day today and it still is stuttering. I don't have time tonight to scan the car again but will get to it tomorrow and post an update.

Re: stutter during acceleration
do you have any way to scan for miss-fires? some scanners will show a missfire total (all cylinders) some others will show per cylinder. when mine was acting up i was able to get it to show me cyl6 via DHP tuning software, ended up being a bad plug (looked perfect), i replaced it and walla fixed.
if you cant scan it, it might save you time and $$ to have a shop scan it and diagnose it.

Re: stutter during acceleration
It was scanned. No misfires. Changed ignition control module and brand new plugs

Re: stutter during acceleration
So here's an update. I just scanned the car, maf sensor code and evap. So my first step is going to be replace the maf sensor and see where that gets me. My buddy has a nice snap on scanner that I'm going to have him run the car and monitor everything and see if anything else looks fishy. I'll get back to everyone by the end of this weekend.
