replacing pcv valve on 98 bonnie 3.8

Post by bonniebird »

Still trying to get this 98 bonnie back on the road after having seriously blown head gaskets due to an overheat due to a hairline crack in the radiator tank....cant figure out how the new map sensor we bought fits onto the pcv black plastic bracket...the pics in the svc/man are of no help...afraid im gonna break the black plastic bracket....any links to some good pics would be helpful...

thanks,
Melanie

in other words, we just wanna make sure that its as simple as pushing/snapping the map sensor down into the 2 black plastic tabs of the pcv valve bracket....just afraid of breaking it..

Yep, it's that easy :D

To remove the PCV Valve: Simply unplug the MAP sensors' electrical connector, push down on the map sensor and then turn it towards the upper intake manifold until it pops up. Then pull out the old PCV valve, MAKE SURE YOUR NEW PCV VALVE HAS BOTH O-RINGS on it, and the MAP sensor housing has the red/orange o-ring on it. Otherwise (ask me how I know lol) you'll either get a horrible screeching sound from the giant vacuum leak, or you'll get a lot of blow by.

Then just place the new PCV valve in the MAP sensor housing, put it back down on the upper intake, push down and twist the opposite way from the upper intake until it locks back in place. Then plug the map connector back in and you're good to go :)

Glad you were able to get it swapped :beerchug:
And it's always a good day when parts don't break
