lower engine temp

Post by omargadea12 »

Hey guys, is there any way to change coolant temp sender to a lower temp like 195 degrees without affecting the PCM? I'm just thinking it may perform better and still having the trans issue but when the car is cold the trans runs good. Thanks

180* thermostat and PCM reprogram (not sure how that works on '95) or fan override.

The temp sender only reports what the temperature actually is, and changing it won't affect anything unless it's reporting the wrong temperature or otherwise failed.

But, this is a temporary solution at best. If your concerns are transmission based, you may want to look at perhaps a bigger transmission cooler, or go for the fan override to keep the fans running. Transmission issues tend to only get worse, and you may be on borrowed time already depending on the issue.

What is going on with yours?

You can throw a 180* stat in there and it'll run a little cooler while moving.

But yes, what are your issues?
