Hello Everyone,
Long story short, my Bonneville door key will lock the door, but it won't unlock it. When I try to unlock it, its almost as if some of the pins aren't quite being pushed up. It will allow me to turn it a little bit, but not all the way as if its bound up by something. I can unlock the door using the power locks, but using the key doesn't work. I've considered buying another key/lock set, but those only have them for 2 doors, and not an extra set for the trunk and I really don't want to have 3 keys for my car.

If you still can, try getting the key code from GM or a local locksmith, or off one of the key barrels
Key could be so worn as to the pins not lining up, and the key won't turn one way
I've seen this on many auction/fleet Ford products, 5th hand inbred worn out copied key won't work the doorlocks or glove box, and won't operate the ignition barrel because its just that deformed. A fresh appropriate key cut by code fixes the problem.
But start with the simple stuff, I assume you tried lubricating the locks?

If the door is already unlocked and you try and unlock it with the key, does the key then turn properly?

Re: 1994 SE - Door will lock, but not unlock
Sorry to practice necromancy on this thread, but I think folks deserve an update. Long story short, EVERYTHING on my drivers side door began to fail. Once I got up enough courage, I took off the interior and figured out how to change the lock. One issue was for me to make sure I got the right lock. Most locks you see out there have some kind of bezel on them, and that simply won't fit. What I needed was the lock cylinder.
Once I had that, I had to fight to get the door handle off of the door, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I will say that in my fight, the rod ended up scratching my paint above the door handle. With the locking mechanism off, I had to figure out how to detach the lock arm from the cylinder. Getting it back on was a relative breeze.
After taking the old lock off, I checked it and apparently the pins aren't getting out of the way anymore.
