Almost official

Post by Kevin Amstutz1 »

I have decided to add a 2005 Bonneville to my Bonneville stable. I have always wanted a red Bonneville with a grey interior and found one. As a plus (or some may think a minus) I found a GXP, one owner with 80,000 miles. Because I'm currently stationed overseas, I won't be able to pick up the car for a few months.
Here are some pics.

I want to thank everyone who provided honest helpful answers. Your input was greatly appreciated. This without a doubt one of the best forums out there.

Oh, Lane I don't expect the fog lights to work and never asked. :)

I was torn between the gray or the red when it came time to by my GXP.
Not saying I made the wrong choice, but that red would be just as welcome.

By the way, it's been almost 2 years and my fog lights have worked from day one, never touched them.
Good luck with you new Bonneville.

Very Nice! Looks like the sunroof dips a bit. May want to adjust it up a little for leaks. Been there when I first got my 2005. Have to agree. Great forum with quite a few experts. Helped me tremendously over the past 6 years and has gotten me to 185K so far as a daily driver. A N* Star mechanic helps also.

Nice car! Gotta love the red ones.

Between the crimson, the greystone, white gold tricoat, and galaxy silver, I'd have a hell of a time choosing..

Thanks! My 98 SSEI is white and my 02 & 03 is gray so a change up is good. I found a Pearl white one with 103000 on it and know the guy. It was VERY clean in and out but was driven in MI every winter and was bubbling at the fuel door. Pass on that. This one was in the South since day one so zero worries on the rust. I hate salt.

Yes, I saw the sunroof and really hope it's only an adjustment. :)

I was gonna mention the sunroof. Simple adjustment if I recall.

You know, the funny thing was, I liked EVERY color offered on the car MORE than my black one. Mine just ended up being it and I being in the right place at the right time for the right price. Otherwise, had I had my choices, I too, would've had a hard time picking.

Nice, I think I like black and "ebony" over the black and tan combo. Definitely has a sportier attitude.

I see that your GXP had the optional Chicago salt package installed in the front footwells.

Carl, yes. Didn't care as it was a DD. As long as it got cleaned at regular intervals, is all I cared about.

Kevin, don't want another black one if I were looking. The one I had just sorta fell into my lap. Right place, right price kinda thing.

I often cruise AutoTrader or Cars.com looking for it's VIN#. Just to see where it's at. I sold it to the cousin of former Minnesota Viking, and eventually Chicago Bear, Chester Taylor. The cousin would go to all away games and drive there. So he wanted a full-size car that was comfortable and quick. It's been >4 years since I sold it. Time is fun when you're having flies.

My 2005 GXP has the same dip in the sunroof...I see several had mentioned that it is an easy adjustment. Is it a DIY or bring it to a dealer?

Lane send me the VIN and I can tell where it's at.

Do a search for the sunroof adjustment. IIRC you need a torx bit.

Was last registered in Wussyconsin, around the Milwaukee area. I don't have it readily available here at work though.

Yea, two torx bolts on each side of the slider frame if I recall.
