Parts breaking...

Post by SkiBonne »

Just thought I would let those who are interested know, on my way to work the other day I had an issue. I heard some odd thumping noises, it wasn't until I noticed the boost gauge wouldn't go above 0 that I knew there was an issue. Pulled off the freeway and found my supercharger idler failed and disintegrated, burning up the belt, which fell and messed up the main drive belt and fried that as well. The belt also lodged itself into the AC compressor, causing a grinding between the clutch and pulley. I was able to clear the obstruction and limp it back home after tearing up my hands so it wouldn't cause more damage, plus the 2/3 of a drive belt I had left.

This is all after I have replaced the UIM and LIM, every filter possible, wobbly axles, wheel bearing, turned rotors, spark plugs, diag'd misfire, and am dealing with an annoying exhaust leak, plus the slow inevitable gas door cancer. Still trying to elimnate the constant freeway vibration, possibly bad tires? Just yesterday a pigeon knocked out my right grill insert, so I am not sure whether to clear them both or find an alternative...

When I do intakes on anything I grease the idler bearings. Have to take them off & carefully pry seal off one side & put some grease in snap back on. Sometimes when I do these the bearings are bone dry, just did one yesterday it wasn't to bad. I know it's to late for you but others may want to try it, seams to happen more with the SC.
