New to me 2003 SSEi

Post by blasian »

This is my latest add to the garage. I picked it up at a good price to be my daily driver to retire my Vette to a garage queen. A couple of things I would like to do but other than that, she may stay mostly stock. I am finding it very difficult to find a more throaty exhaust for this thing.

Welcome!

The 3800 motor do not sound very good at all, so finding a throatier exhaust is a challenge. Best thing to do would be just to replace the mufflers. I have a pair of Flowmaster 44s and it's just a touch louder and deeper than stock, which in my opinion makes them perfect.

An intake will also let loose the whine from the supercharger that the stock airbox is holding back.

:withstupid: I went with Magnaflow on mine. Sounds a little louder and deeper at idle, but otherwise meh. I'll be looking to revise mine soon to quiet it back down. I have a cutout, so if I really want to make noise I can do it selectively.

Oh, and welcome!

Best bet is to leave the exhaust stock and add a magnaflow 3 inch resonator. i makes the exhaust have a nice burble. a 90 degree v6 will never sound as good as a chevy V8.

It can sound great, just needs equal length headers and true dual exhaust. The 3800 becomes quite the screamer then.

can that be done to a '92-'05 3800 and still be EPA compliant? - BC
