I need some new equipment

Post by 2003 SSEi »

Gents, I have been detaining for quite some time, however my equipment now (PC7424XP) is quite old now. I also have 6" Lake Country pads

I have been talking to Ryan about a DA and he recommended the Griots garage 6"

AutoGeek has 20%off plus free shipping so I think im gonna make the purchase.

Any reason that any of you see not to buy the Griots and buy something else

Depends on your budget. Under $200 get the Griots, best warranty and plenty of power. On the cheap you can get the Harbor Freight polisher which from what I hear is actually pretty good and less then $100. Either way, make sure to get the 5" backing plate and go with 5.5" pads.

If the budget is more then we can start talking Flex or Rupes, but I don't think those are anywhere necessary for you.

Also, I will add that I have both the 7424XP and the Griots. I used the 7424XP twice and couldn't stand the lack of power compared to my old beat up UDM polisher, I bought the Griots and have been extremely happy with it's performance, night and day difference between it and the 7424XP.

I now have my old UDM polisher with a brush attachment for carpets and seats, the PC is awaiting a 2.5" backing plate for use with 3" pads for tight areas and headlights while the Griots is the go to machine for paint correction on every detail I do. A Rupes might find it's way to my hand next summer but time will tell.

Turns out that the Griots is on Backorder. (edit, only the standard one. I got the 25' HD one)

What Rupes are you looking at Ryan.

Definitely 21 mm, 15 would be ok, but I don't feel it would be a big enough difference between it and my Griots.

I don't think I would go HF again. I tried a HF rotary and it lasted about three uses.
