Another Transmission Mount Question

Post by kstills »

http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 36054.html

In that thread, the guy has the entire mounting bracket off the car. I would assume that the correct procedure would be to put a board and jack under the engine, put a bit of upward lift on it, and unscrew the bracket from the trans housing, correct?

I read one thread where a guy took thirteen hours to get the mount changed out, so I'm a little confused as to how difficult a procedure this actually can be.

Yes, you need to support the engine while the mount is disconnected. 13 hours is a bit much, you may have read a GXP mount thread.

Yeah, that's what I figured, given where it is.

Thanks for the replies, mechanic wanted north of 200 for the work (660 to do valve covers, about that much for the LIM).

Guess I have a weekend planned....
