My 'New' 96 Riviera!!

Post by GotBonneBWitMe »

It's been a while since I've showed my last car since I've been switching up so many times. You all don't know . . But this is my third Riviera since I've been on this site. And this is my best one. Has almost 200k (199,300) miles on it . . . But you wouldn't even know it! Just passed the emissions test and there are NO dash lights on it at all. Runs quiet, smooth and starts right up. Only things that need attention is the trunk peeling, surface rust on the drivers side door, and a hub bearing on the drivers side. Everything works on it. And it has the wood grain dash!!
:bwoohoo:

Enough of the 'talking' . . So here are some pictures!

Now are there any things I should know about maintaining a 200k 3800 supercharged engine? Just got the car a couple of days ago. Took about an hour n half drive for it. Was mostly an eway car and I do more city driving. But I'll be sure to take it on the eway for a nice drive every now and then.

Best oil to use? Etc. Thanks!

I use 5w30 Castrol GTX Magnatec in mine. It might be overkill but it seems to be serving the car well.

That's a beautiful Riviera - I love the wood-trimmed dashboard.

Do you know if the lower intake manifold gaskets have ever been changed? If not, they should probably be changed out. Wouldn't hurt to change the oil in the S/C out either, costs less than $20.

Digging this out for the first time in a while: http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 40156.html

Make sure everything on that list is up to date, PCV valve, plugs, etc. That's a good starting point for owning any used car.
Bye Bye:
