dash "mod" for double din

Post by jojo51592 »

I apologize if this has been beat to death, but I have a double din for me 00 sle and I trimmed up the dash a little but the hu still sticks out and kinda looks bad. I was wondering what all you guys with double dins have done to make yours look as stock as possible, such as what all you trimmed and dash kits. Btw my hu is a pioneer avh-3300bt

Basically the whole back of the radio mounting slot can be cut away just don't hit the ribbon cable. After that the standard best buy mounting kit works fine and you can reach around the back of the center console up into the dash to help adjust wires to ease installation.

The Metra GM Multi-Kit 95-2001 Double-DIN adaptor for 00-05 Bonnevilles works very well. You have to glue the face plate surround to the sides, then mount the sides to your HU then pop a couple license plate square nuts into the square holes by the alignment pins on both sides mounting tabs and screw it in. The face plate may be too small to fit over some head units in which case just use the sides. Depending on your HU it may fir behind or have to stick out in front of the dash trim.
