Noticed an oil leak(Fixed) New question about blower motor

Post by JMM8476 »

Well my Bonneville has been sitting for about a week or so due to my blower motor being out (Alabama heat SUCKS) and I went to drive it down the road and back and noticed oil burning off somewhere so I popped the hood and it was dripped all over the front exhaust manifold. Im pretty sure its the valve cover gasket because the majority of the oil is at coming from that area. I did notice a little where the head meets the block, but that could just be from abouve at the valve cover. Checked the oil, it looks fin (no water) but havent looked at the antifreeze. If its the head gasket there would definitely be water in the oil, correct? Im probably going to do the valve cover gasket this weekend to see if it fixes it, but I wont rule out the head gasket just yet...

I will rule out your head gasket right now, that isn't the source of your oil leak :) the valve cover gaskets are a known problem on these cars, replace that and your oil leak should be gone. Chances are that the rear leaks as well, that one is a bit more difficult to change though, I would recommend swapping in the aluminum coolant elbows when you do that one too.

Thats what I was thinking on the head gasket lol. I'll be doing those two gaskets this weekend along with the blower motor. Already put the aluminum elbows in when I did the LIM. :)

New question: Does Rock Auto not sell the Delphi blower motor anymore? All I see is the ACDelco and I read that the Delphi is cheaper and actually the OE part :dontknow:
