Long weekend gas rip-off (again)
So Monday morning I happened to get some 94 octane, and while pumping the fuel, I noticed the gas has jumped up 10% overnight with no real justification apart from it's the week preceding a long weekend. Nice.
I paid $6.04 a gallon, ouch.

Re: Long weekend gas rip-off (again)
It can change in minutes...
Last Thursday night, my Wife called me to tell me she needed my card so that she could put gas in the RGC as it was $3.7x/gallon. Within the half-hour I was home, she took my card, went to the place it was $3.7x, and it was now $4.0x/gallon...
Half-hour = $0.3x increase...

Not only the ripoff on the price in general, but basically as long as I can remember premium was only $.20 more per gallon then regular, now many places have it as much as $.40 higher per gallon!

Yeah, the margin between 87 and Premium has gotten bigger for sure. Makes me glad I can run 87 in the G8 with no adverse effects, for now. I paid $3.59 last night...

I run Penny on the 93 tune all the time, recently I've been filling up with 87. I wonder how long it's gonna take for the LEDs in my Aeroforce's Annunciator function to burn out. XD Yay for being NA and not having to care.

Filled up with premium on Saturday. It was 20 cents more per gallon than regular, paid $3.79/ gallon. I always fill at Holiday, they have 91. Most Super Americas have 92 and I believe alot of BP stations have 93.

Re: Long weekend gas rip-off (again)
here in NE Wisconsin 91 or 93 cost about 3.95. some stations have 91 some have 93, ive ran 89 which is plus here and haven't had any issues at all, gas mileage is just as good and everything is running good so im paying about 3.60 until they decide to drop it down some more.

Last time I filled up it was 3.02 here, but since I work from home now, I haven't put gas in the Buick in a little over a month
At my old job, I was filling up twice a week, so it's nice to see the savings pile up there.

$3.49 for 87 in my part of Texas. I run Quick Trip (or another Top Tier station if need be) 87 gas, pour a bottle of Amsoil Fuel PI every oil change, Amsoil OE 1030, and do a Terra Clean fuel system service 2 times a year. I am getting between 30 and 35 mpg.

Re: Long weekend gas rip-off (again)
http://www.minnesotagasprices.com/ I found this site and like to use it now when I can. The gap between regular and premium varies greatly from station to station! I have no idea what drives this or why? One station will have premium for 20 cents more than regular and the same company station 5 miles down the road will have it for 40 cents more than regular. And both will be selling regular for the same price! I don't understand it.

Re: Long weekend gas rip-off (again)
Yeah, up until about five years ago, the standard spread between gasoline grades in central N.C. was about 10 cents, but some stations would only spread it out six or eight cents. It's gradually increased to the present 20-cent spread. One reason I like filling my Aurora up at Sam's Club is they have a 20-cent spread but they don't sell mid-grade (89 octane) and their price for regular is usually five or six cents a gallon lower than other nearby stations. That puts the discount for premium (91 octane) somewhere around 25 cents a gallon, compared with nearby competition.
The most asinine thing the benighted N.C. General Assembly has done related to gas prices is to impose a $100 annual fee on all-electric vehicles because they don't burn gasoline and thus the owners are "evading" the state's exorbitant 43-cent per gallon gas tax, which is the second or third highest in the nation. Of course the flip side of the coin is that overall pump prices in North Carolina are relatively low, presently between $3.60 and $3.70 per gallon. Still, my dad, who lives in Charlotte, drives about five or six miles to a station just over the line into South Carolina to buy gas and saves around 12 cents a gallon in the process.
