Ok I have new trans questions.

Post by Blownville »

My bro got me a 90K mile trans with a 1 year 12K mile warranty for $500 and my bro checked it and it looks to have been serviced once in its life already. We are servicing it again and I am wondering what fluid to use as my bro has all of the GM fluids to choose from. Also I am having the car tuned by a local guy that does a lot of 3800's once it is installed for higher line pressure and moving the lockup to kick in at 50 mph along with some other improvements. Is there any other items I can do to get another 50K+ of miles form this trans? Thanks.

TransGo shift kit will ad life by giving you a crisper but not overly hard shift. ZZ Performance also sells a finned aluminum deep pan that has a drain plug and gives extra fluid capacity...all good things.

Shift kit is noted but I am not sure I have enough left for it. What about the fluid? My bro wanted to put full synthetic in because it doesn't break down but I said I would check here first.

I put amsoil trans fluid in 2000 trans that has the SC at 50,000 miles. 100,000 miles later & still rocking on. Think the GM synthitic would be good too.
