fuel rail connector, what's it called & where can i buy one

Post by 88bonnsse »

1995 sle 3.8 series 2

been having some what of a hard start where I have to step on the gas pedal 2 or 3 times while starting in order to get the car to stay running.. also it has been smelling like raw gas in the car.

upon inspection I noticed there is a plastic hose with a plastic connector that connects to the metal fuel rail that feeds the injectors.

this plastic connector has a leak that drips like a leaky faucet, the leak does stop when I push down on and wiggle the connector.

but every morning its the same issue. hard start and I have to step on the gas 2-3 times to get it to stay running.

im guessing that leaky plastic connector is causing the fuel pressure to drop as the car sits over nite.

can anybody tell me what its called or post a link of where I can order a new one from ? I'm sure I could find one in my local u pull it yard, but this piece I'd rather buy new.

I will post up a pic in a lil while incase your unsure of what I'm talking about. thank you.

Are you talking about the line at the front right of the rail (if you're facing the hood) right above the thermostat? Kind of like a 90* elbow that connects the fuel line to the rail itself? If so, I had that same fitting fail at 70+ mph and dump about a 1/4 tank of gas onto a hot exhaust manifold hahaha.

They make a doorman repair kit that autozone sells, it comes with about a foot of line, the elbow and clip, and a barb to attach it to the old line. I think I paid 20 bucks for the part, but I had to have the car towed because I didn't have any way to heat the line from where I was stranded. Usually you can dip the lines in boiling water to soften them up, slide the barb in, and then be good to go. Just make sure you get the right size line, the send and return lines are different sizes, and I bought the wrong one the first time lol. I can't remember what the front side was.

There's a second elbow at the back of the rail, it should be the same style part for the repair, just the second size. One is for the send on the rail and one is for the return. IIRC the front is the return, the rear is the send.
