Yes, but he took the whole ignition system it looks like there was a computer underneath the dash that's missing right by where the ignition was. large connector, several pins, white backing...

heads up display: I wonder if I can put this in my bonneville... I also have the whole dash from the grand prix, radios, climate control, and engine metrics display (which I would also like to use in my 99 SLE).

taking stuff apart. those four-prong internal clips that hold on the fuel lines are absolutely stupid. had to make little sheet metal tabs to pear-of-anguish them off...

5 hours later, its loose. there is practically nothing a 10mm, 13mm, 15mm, T-15, and two screwdrivers wont disassemble on this car. i just need to pick up a cherry picker tomorrow...

That plug under the dash is the connector for the steering column wiring.

Thank you. I just hope I didn't need that steering column/ignition to use the engine computer.

engine hoisted from rafters, grand prix drug out from underneath by hand. notice the dash pieces of the grand prix on the shelves in the background (ebay)...
Image

everything that was left of the engine wiring harness of the grand prix up to the engine compartment fuse box. notice the three wire bundles that are shredded hanging over the front of the pool... the left one appears to be my downstream o2 sensor. the other two possibly power the ballasts for the HID headlamps, but i need to investigate if/why they are part of this harness (this is probably wishful thinking, i cant even remember what gave me the idea these might go to the headlights).

Progress report: the fuel pump from the grand prix is in with a new fuel filter and many new fuel lines and brake lines that were rusty and broke while I had the tank dropped. For future reference, the fuel pump from the grand prix is in an enclosed sending unit with a dual inlet pump, where the high flow pump listed for the Bonneville has a single inlet. I had to Jerry - rig two fuel filter socks to save the $96 for the proper pump, but I'm sure I'll have to buy it anyway down the road, as there was a third smaller opening on the pump that is normally protected by the sending unit enclosure and I left it open to the tank - no filter sock. i just want to see it run with the supercharged engine before I shell the cash. So fuel supply is capable of supporting the transplant now. I also had to repair the exhaust between the cat and resonator. I fixed the blower fan for the ac, the light on the radio, and checked the grounding blocks by the rocker panels (clean). The previously sagging rear bumper is visually back in alignment and the trunk lid and rear tail lights are back where they belong. Then on to the power antenna. The junkyard gave me some generic unit with no mounting hardware that was somehow wired internally with reverse polarity. I fixed it and soldered the oem relay onto it so it would plug right into my stock wiring harness. It works, but it is hanging by the mast sleeve, so I still have to fabricate a mounting bracket for it. My only dilemma is all the rust I found while repairing a dented fender last week. I'm not sure if it is worth following through with this unless I can find someone to do the repairs. That's why I haven't pulled the engine yet. I bought a mig welder this week, but this seems like a bit much for my first project. I'll post pix in a bit...

UPDATE: I have been looking into the rust in my wheelwells and whether it will pass inspection if repaired. I am having it looked at very soon. I have pretty much decided that I love the bonnie enough to save her, and that I can probably handle the repairs myself... being that I just bought a brand new MIG welder! This means that I have decided on continuing with the L67 transplant! Unfortunately, I am very busy and cannot begin until I repair four other vehicles, ranging from replacing a cracked windshield and missing radio on a Tbird to headgaskets and headbolt block-studs on a Northstar engine. This will take weeks. In the meantime I have ordered a WALKER 21427 muffler (SSEi ready). By the time I start, the chassis, from fuel system to exhaust, will be ready for the L67.
