Re: led bulbs
Where do you get your ballasts from and how are you wiring them?

Re: led bulbs
That might explain some of it. However, the LED 880 and 9006/9005 bulbs you can find for sale are for decorative purposes only. They offer no usable light.
Re: led bulbs
Fog lights are cool for decorative but as you said headlight wont put out a whole lot of light? And what about tails?

Re: led bulbs
Actually there are some very powerful LED headlights available now, a guy I work with just put a set in his new Wrangler and holy hell are they impressive! I would strongly suggest a projector retrofit with them as well though, so basically with your stock headlights stop using HIDs in general and also don't use good LED bulbs because doing so makes you "that guy".

Re: led bulbs
Well, as LED headlights become more common from the manufacturer as OEM equipment, you can expect the aftermarket to quickly keep pace. PIAA already has complete LED fog light kits.
But I would wait a bit until some of the technology becomes standardized. They're all in the learning phase right now.

Re: led bulbs
so for now your saying I should just stick to switching all the other bulbs for now and wait on headlights and fogs?

Re: led bulbs
For headlights, yes. Until something comes out and is proven to be effective. Fog lights, unless you completely retrofit the entire housing (like the PIAA's), I would probably hesitate. Again, this is my opinion and is not based on any factual evidence. I guess my concern on the aftermarket side isn't soo much "beam patterns" as it is lumen output. Which at this time, as Carl said above, they're meant purely for decorative purposes (meaning low lumen output).
This stuff (LED headlights), is just coming out as OEM equipment in Acura's, Cadillac's, Lexus's, and other high end cars. Gotta let them standardize it, then let it trickle to the aftermarket.

Re: led bulbs
The new Corolla has an LED projector so the movement to LEDs is certainly on its way. But for now, I'd ditch the HIDs and go with some nice Phillips Extravisions or the like. They might not have the white or blue color that most people are after, but if you want to get good performance without blinding others, that's just about your only choice. Being a 92-95, a retrofit is out of the question given the fluted glass lenses. You will have to adapt the 96-99 style light if you want to retro. Seems like a lot of work, but it is worth it.
For brake lights you will want dual intensity bulbs such as this:

As you can tell, this kind of conversion isn't cheap. But it does modernize the look a little. I believe Pat and Eric have full LED rear lighting on their 2000+s. I'll get there eventually.

If you have the equipment to grind and polish glass the '92-'95 lamps can be de-fluted. But way too time consuming and costly to do it that way. I recommend the '96-'99 lamp retro either way, much better housing.

Re: led bulbs
I'd love to retrofit the headlights in my LeSabre, but that will never happen. I like the look of the 92-96's much better than the 97-99's (their bumpers are just too high).
