How to tell if my bonnie has a stock alarm/keyless entry

Post by loud95sse »

I want an alarm on my car and before I go buy one I want to check if mine has a stock one. How can I find out. My car is a 95 sse. and I read that most came with a stock alarm.

I found a oem alarm button on ebay that I can program to the stock alarm in my car. It's made for my car.anything info will help, thanks.
Naturally aspirated 95 bonneville sse. HV3 insert, 9" k+N cold air intake, Hi-flow muff, new metallic paint, 16" chrome rims, tinted tails.

Comeing soon: hi-flow TB, PCM, maybe rockers.

Look for the RPO AU5 code on the spare tire cover.

There's no such thing as a 'stock alarm button' for your car. Are you talking about keyless entry? If so, you should also have AUO on the spare tire cover.

Roll down the driver's window. Reach inside and lock the doors using the POWER door lock button (simulating what the keyless entry remote would do). Wait a minute or two. MANUALLY unlock the door by sliding only the lever. Open the door.

The factory alarm should go off if it's there and not disabled. SSE's should by default get keyless entry and a factory alarm.

92-95's could have had alarms? That's news to me...i don't have one so it must not have been default on SSE's. I have AU0 but not AU5.

Not sure what it means, but the AU5 is listed as "special frequency".

It is just a keyless remote. I just read it better. There was another one I was looking at that said alarm. Oh, well I was hopeing it had an alarm. I will try what you said to see if it works. Will also check spare tire code.

Here's the link to the remote

That is the correct remote, and programming instructions are in Techinfo.

I'd be very surprised to see an SSE without the factory alarm. My belief is that MOST got it (all SSEi's did).

If it does have an alarm, will the keyless remote work w/the alarm as well?

Thanks for all your input guys.

my SSE did not have it. It also had no Electronic climate control, cloth seats, no BOSE.

I tried the window open test like you said....no alarm. And it's a well equipped SSE.

That's odd. :???:

Even my SLE has one IIRC. I'll check when I get home.

if when you open the door, SECURITY will flash on the dash, then your SSE was equip with a alarm. my 92 SSE supercharged didnt not have a alarm, nor a locking gas door, but had EVERYTHING else. another thing that you got with the alarm and locking gas door was global locking, where you use the key in the door and all the doors unlock or lock

check for rpo AU0 on ur spare tire cover and that will tell you if you had keyless entry. if you do have the alarm, the alarm will arm and disarm with teh remote or door lock switch as well.
