NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING INTERIOR LIGHT BULB #'S 2002 SLE

Post by jimmmmay »

Okay, i'm so confused looking at so many sites showing different numbers for interior light bulbs. Here is what i need and think i may have figured out:

2002 Bonneville SLE

Map lights - the 2 in front - 578?
Dome lights - 1 on each side for rear seats? - 578 as well or are they 563, 906, or 168? HOW MANY NEEDED?
What are the foot lights under the dash? HOW MANY NEEDED?
What are the courtesy side of the door lights? 168 or 194? HOW MANY NEEDED?
License plate - 2821? TAKES 2?
Trunk - 211? HOW MANY NEEDED?
Engine Compartment - 561?

Any others i'm missing?

578 are map lights in front, dome lights above rear seats, and one 578 bulb goes in the trunk.

License plate is a pair of 194s. The corner markers in the tail lamps are also 194s.

Foot wells use a rigid loop festoon type bulb. 561 is the number I think. Like these:

No light in the engine compartment.

2002s don't have lights in the side of the door. That is only a 2000 model year perk.

I don't know the bulb for the mirrors up front. I chose to leave the factory incandescents cause LEDs are bright as *shoot*.

Carl, I can't thank you enough my friend. I ordered a bunch of LED'S and I will see what i'm missing and with your list I can now identify which ever ones my order won't work on. I may even wire my own for the hood, always nice to have good lighting under hood when in need! Thanks again.

No problem! You're gonna love LED interior lighting. The bright white light really gives a more modern feel, and is certainly more bright. I love mine.

It wouldn't be tough to wire in a 24" LED strip under the hood. That would offer plenty of light and depending on where you put it, the light should reach all the nooks and crannies that you might need to see into.

Yeah I have seen many LED interiors, night and day how good it is. I really was leaning on doing red lights but I was worried it wouldn't be clear enough to actually read something and would be more for looks. What I did was ordered 2 extras in red with several bulb adapters and I'm gonna put them at my feet and see how they look there and do the rest in the white. I wish you could separate the foot lights and leave them on if you wanted to and have it match all the read gauges?? I saw another car on youtube that had both the red and the white LED's and you could choose between both? That would be awesome. Might be too much while driving to have the ones on by your feet. Worse case if i don't like the red on the feet I might use them else where, was only like $8 bucks no buggy. I also ordered for the license plate LED's too.

Red is no good for actually seeing. My friend has red in his car and it's totally useless.

You could install some red LED strips in the footwells and wire them to a switch. I'm pretty sure that it has been done before.
