cold air intake
its cold out now, so I don't need it...but when it warms up I got plans...im planning on a spectare filter with a intake that goes towards the original position of the airbox, then Im thinking of attaching the hose that you can buy... any good?

Here is what I did to make my set up. I run mine year round, which includes the past few days that were below zero and snowy here in Michigan.

This isn't the only way to do it material wise, but the routing should be followed. Other wise you will not have any separation from the engine compartment heat and the motor just draws that in instead of nice cool air.

I'd pass on the Spectre filter, they aren't the best quality IMO. FWI is the "best" option, but a rice pipe with some way to close it off from the rest of the engine bay heat will work just fine.

Nice install! That is what I am thinking of.. I'm thinking about running mine through the stock outlet on the front rad cradle..filter will be just in front of the rad...

There isn't much room in front of that stock inlet location, the headlight pretty much takes all the space. Plus the hole isn't very big right there. This is why you have to relocate the charcoal canister. It gives you a perfect hole to slip through, for your air filter to get all the fresh air it can suck up.

I went with a JMB performance fenderwell intake...as pictured below

While it might be a touch pricey, the powdercoated finish on the tube has held up fantastic. The kit comes with a K&N cone filter and exits the engine bay through and existing hole formerly used by the airbox. The filter is shielded from rain/trash but has access to cool outside air. Being in this cavity has no effect on the sound (if you dig that, and I do) but its a high quality kit that fits right and just plain works. Grommets and holes are already provided for the IAT sensor. All well worth its price in my book.

I thought about it, I think I am going to gut my airbox...now I was looking at one of the posts on here, about the tabs, can I just use a soldering iron to melt the tabs?

well I successfully gutted my stock air box, I ended up cutting the tabs..now I have improved throttle response and a nice blend of torque and horsepower. It really comes alive now when I need it..has a nice grumble, but not nearly as much as my 3100 V6 corsica had...
