wipers wont squit.
My wipers work just fine but yesterday they stopped squirting. I live in thesnow belt and with winter slush and snow coming its a must. What could be wrong and how do I fix it? Thanks gentlemen!

Re: wipers wont squit.
I had what I thought was a similar problem but it turned out to be a hose cam unconnected. Look towards the base of your wipers, where they pivot. There should be a hose leading into them to feed them fluid

I agree with checking the lines first. Sometimes they pop off, or split. If those are fine, the pump in the reservoir is the next suspect. You can test the connector to make sure it has 12V, if it does the pump is probably bad. They are relatively cheap.

Re: wipers wont squit.
Ok the lines should be running from the reservoir to the individual wipers or? I don't see anything disconnected but may not be looking at the proper lines. I'm leaning towards the pump as I get no noise making of a motor/pump working when I hot the squirts, which I always did before. In that case anyone have a part number and or installation instructions/tutorial?

Re: wipers wont squit.
The pump is located in the passenger wheelwell in front of the tire. It simply pops into place, no tools needed. I have a bunch if you need one.

Yes that would be the fastest way to it very simple procedure turn the wheel all the way to the right and then grab a flat head and remove the splash guard pins after they are remove (Note: you do not have to remove the full splash guard just the pins near the front) pull the splash cover back and you can very visibly see the pump along with the water fluid tank.
Hope's this help you figure things out.

Not to sound condescending, because I've neglected the purely simple MANY times, but you did physically check and top off the washer fluid level, right? Start with the simple and obvious first. Just because the low level light didn't come on doesn't mean the fluid level is still good. If you check it and it's good, you've lost nothing and you can say Stan's an idiot; but if you change out the entire system THEN find out it was just low fluid...

Re: wipers wont squit.
Lol yes Occam's razor theory, The fluid level was down figured it was just that. Filled it up still no squirts, the reservoir is holding the washer-fluid so no cracks and its just draining out although I most likely would have noticed a huge puddle. if that were the case. All the connections to the wipers look good, although I have yet to remove the wheel well insert perhaps a tube coming off the pump came loose/off, the pump was 11.00 after discount at advance, cheap enough. I Want to swap it out now problem is I don't have a garage and were having a wind storm of 50-60 mph further complicating it is tomorrow were supposed to have both wind and snow
. So dammed if I do dammed if I dont...

Re: wipers wont squit.
Ok im perplexed I changed the pump with a brand new one. All tubing to and from is tight in good condition and no disconnects . Hit the squirts still not working. Of course, just my luck. What the hell, is there a fuse for it that may be blown or something ? Its driving me nuts and needs to be fixed before the weather gets crappy. Please help gentlemen, as always thanks!

Check fuse #2 ACCY in the underhood fusebox.

My truck wasn't working I just ran a wire to a toggle switch on the dash. I think mine is in the circuit board on the wiper & didn't want to replace it as long as the wipers work.

I considered this in the past, pretty simple.xcbullet wrote:My truck wasn't working I just ran a wire to a toggle switch on the dash. I think mine is in the circuit board on the wiper & didn't want to replace it as long as the wipers work.
I will bet it's the switch, I ended up getting a used turn signal stalk, fixed.

If it was the stalk wouldn't the wipers not work as well, every other function on the stalk works save for any associated with the squirts?

I wonder if this and this:

are related? i.e. Something may be amiss in your steering column.

Re: wipers wont squit.
I dont know every other assy works. The last time the squirts worked I hit the button on the stem nothing hit it and held it after a long hold it did one final big quick squirt then nothing. Thought for sure it was the pump, put on a new one and nothing....

Anyone know if its possible for the switch in the stem to work for the wipers but not work for the squirts? Dont want to replace the switch/stem if I don't have to?
