Sorry, reading all these ebay posts and seems like half the people don't know what they are talking about.

But for the new keys. Any key that is a PK3 will work?

Some say only for 04-08 grand prix or only 05-09 lacrosse.

Aren't they all the same though?

PK3 is PK3. Shouldn't matter the year or what model so long as the key blank was meant to fit in the tumbler.
2005 GXP - White Gold Pearl, no mods...yet.
2000 SSEi - Resurrection in progress. Built L67 w/L32 fuel rail, ported heads, and cam. Camaro front brake system, GXP cluster, and much more in planning.

Never really had a supercharged car long enough to know what its supposed to sound like. From top of the motor I am getting a ticking/clicking type noise. Sounds like from supercharger, might be slight rattle but doesn't really sound like rattle more like ticking. (Not like lifter tick either lol)

Also, one of my accessories is making noise, any ideas on how to find out which. Tried putting prey bar on pulley but all I can hear is pry bar dragging against the pulley.

Grand Prix PK3 keys will not fit. The key itself is wider and will not fit in our ignitions. I have a spare at home that is useless because i thought it would work.

I've got some loud racket come from my pulley area. Any ideas on how to check? Seems like supercharger makes a little noise but I think that's normal or ok for now.

But when I take the accessory belt off the noise pretty much goes away. I have tried putting pry bar to pulley but all I can here is the bar dragging on the pulley.

Check the balancer for rubber deterioration first, then use your hand to spin each pulley back and forth as you should be able to feel anything you are hearing. You can also use the prybar as a stethoscope (just don't jamb your ear or catch a pulley with it) to help locate the noise. And don't forget to check the tensioner.

I have had all kinds of issues with my power steering pump, but so far it's not making noises unless the reservior runs dry.

Well the power steering pump was the first thing, the hose sprayed all over and made a big mess. Got that fixed and now something is still making a racket. Sounds like its coming from middle or front of engine. I thought possibly water pump as the coolant is low as well. But that could be the intake as well as it still has dex-barf in it.

When I use the pry bar all I hear is the pry bar grinding against the pulley.

Use the pry bar against something that the pulley is connected to (such as the water pump cover, altenator cover, etc...) not on the pulley itself. Sorry I didn't make that clear. You can also put it against anything solid (bolts, etc..) on the engine, trace it to where it's loudest.

ok. Thanks. That makes sense now. Hopefully I can find out what is making my noise or I'll just end up replacing everything.

Whats the best way to check the supercharger? Just take the belt off and spin it? If its tight and no noise then its good?

With belt off, grab SC pulley and rotate back and forth. Should feel solid. If you feel any play, it needs a coupler. Simple and inexpensive to replace. I'm sure someone here has done a write up on it. Also, not something that needs to be addressed immediately. The noise it makes is a nuisance though. Plan on a SC oil change with the coupler. Good luck to ya! Love the color of your new SSEi!

Thanks for your help. It's not my most favorite color but it is in decent shape.

I'm just going to slap a new intake and a new waterpump on it and call it day. Probably doesn't need it right now but its still got Dex so I want that crap outta there.

Supercharger is nice and tight. Rotor looked like new. Replaced the power steering hose that was leaking, hooked it up still making this racket. So I assumed it was power steering pump, which we replaced with a spare we had on hand. Still making the racket

Also replaced a supercharger idler pulley that was loose. No change

So I checked ALL the pulleys and accessories no noise from any of them. Couldn't figure out a way to get the tool on the balancer to check for noise, so I'm assuming that is what it has to be. But it seems its something belt drive related, no? Because its quieter or goes away when the belt is removed.

I looked the balancer over and the rubber looks like its in good shape.

BUT, if I remove the accessory belt the noise seems to quiet down. But the noise is consistent with rpms, so if you rev it the noise gets louder

I'm about to my wits end with this car. The thing holds good oil pressure (80 psi) and the engine runs good but this noise is killing me and I can't figure out what it is.

Here's a video of the noise:

At 25 seconds I moved the camera from the top of the engine bay to below the car.
At 33 seconds the mic was pointed by the ac compressor, then end of video is by the balancer.

(Edit: On second thought, the video is so blurry I can't remember exactly what time I moved the camera :???: )

So after all this: http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... it=%20ssei

The car is still sitting waiting......

So do I strip it and scrap it? Get it fixed? I know the dealer is going to kill me with their prices. Or maybe someone is interested? Just trying to break even on this baby :banghead: Probably end up taking a loss

So what your saying is that you have not been able to get the car started for about 6 months. And you have swapped several modules without success. My suggestion is to put in all the original modules in that came with the car and just bite the bullet and bring it to the dealer and have it re programmed. Then you will at least have a daily driver and the other issues such as water leaks and such can be repaired by you. I don't know what you paid for it, but the dealer can give you an estimate before they make any repairs. Some of the modules such as the RRIM and DIM are not vehicle specific but the ignition nodule and PCM are.

Sorry, kinda jumped the gun on this one I guess. Its just been sitting since March. And we have so many daily drivers already that no one wants or needs this car anymore. So I'm just trying to get my money back. I'm going to keep my eyes open and buy myself a Tech 2 and do it myself.

Dealer charges $80 just to plug it in, plus the cost of towing it to the dealer. And whatever it costs to fix. I'll be much better off just getting a Tech 2, I have been looking for a while but nothing has come about locally.

Well, this has been a long time coming but "Christine" (I'll let you guess) has finally been revived. And FINALLY got all the bugs worked out.

Originally we bought this for my little brother.
Fixed the following:
New harmonic balancer
New power steering pump & high pressure hose
AC compressor
Intake gaskets & coolant elbows
New belts and idler pulleys
New front trans mount

Image

At which point the security system decided the $hit its guts. At which point he no longer wanted it and I bought it from him. Then it just sat until about a month ago until I had a Tech 2 and the time to figure out what the problem was. Looks the only having a valet key the system was never able to program the key after it lost its program. Then even with new ignition and key, turns out the exciter had taken a crap as well. Replaced that, reprogram a different TDM, 30 minute relearn and she starts.

Now down to the fun stuff:
Say goodbye to the rotten headliner and the broken sunroof that the PO decided to silicone shut. That was a mess.

New headliner and sunroof
Image

Cleaning the seats and carpet. Let me just. Whoever recommended the Magic Eraser. Thank you!!! They saved me so much time.

Carpet Before:

Carpet after:

Seats before:

Image

In progress, can you tell whats been cleaned?
Image

Image

Almost done:
Image

Tool of choice, new vs old. Think I got my money worth out of that eraser.
Image

More FUN stuff:
Passenger headlight cracked, had to swap that.
Crappy door sweeps changed.
Broken inner wheel wells replaced.
New radio swapped out and reprogrammed.
Got some new key fobs and got them programmed.
Popped the dents out of the front bumper, turned out quite well.
New trunk linings later, old ones were nasty and I found the problem. One of the rear sunroof drains was completely disconnected and the lower half was plugged.

Then she wouldn't start would only start after charging on 200amps for about 10 minutes. Which should be enough to start the car in seconds. Well after every ground was checked and cleaned and a new battery later, that issue was fixed.

Christine has been hell, but I guess thats what comes from the previous owners severe neglect for years. Thankfully they did take care of it mechanically for the most part. I can't even begin the count the hours I've put in this car, I should just keep it now but have no use for it.

Well I guess I can call this one done. It will make somebody a great car.

More exterior pics to follow, ones it gets washed. -35* with the windchill isn't very cooperative weather.
