removing trunk connector from trim panel for air

Post by jet020 »

Hello, any suggestions will be much appreciated I am upgrading my rear trunk trim panel on my ssei and it has the air button and air line attachment added to the panel. My question, I have the panel out but I cannot figure out how to remove the connector. Do you squeeze and pull? Pry and Pull?Should I use a pair of plyers and gently pull it out. It looks simple but I am afraid if I force it and end up breaking the connector to the air button I will be up a creek! I have a nicer looking rear trunk trim panel that I want to swap out and its important that I don't break the connector to use on the nicer panel.

Remove the nut and pull out the entire fitting from the plastic.

Yes Andrew, I ready removed the nut and fitting from the right side of the panel. I am talking about the left side connection where the air button is located. There is another set of wires in a connector that snaps into the back of the trim panel under the air button that you push in to start the air. At least on mine there is no nut on this connection unless the previous owner modified something. The replacement trim panel has the same setup as the original without the wires and air line with it.

There should be some way to disconnect the wiring. Should be able to push it in somehow to release the quick connection.

Yes, thats what I was thinking. I looked at it very closely and I tried that but the thing won't budge. I decided to wait and try tonight after work and after hopefully getting a suggestion here on the Bonneville site. I know if I force it and its not the right procedure then I will snap the connector end with the wires so I will be patient and hope to hear a suggestion. Thanks for your imput

As a last resort perhaps a trip to auto zone so I can let someone else to take a look. I had trouble with my old Grand Prix door window switch when I had to remove it to get to the window regulator and I snapped the tab off of the connector, so I want to get this one right!

Thanks a bunch Andrew, your the man! Got it out last night per your excellent photos you provided. As for loadmaster, no major upgrade here, I am being my usual anal self and replacing the trunk trim panel with one that looks brand new because mine apparently had some heavy duty cargo in the trunk at one time and put a couple of gouges in the plastic. Now my trunk looks brand new!
