Bonnie's replacement

Post by brownbrentm »

Picked up this gal on Saturday. As much as I have enjoyed the Bonneville, I wanted a stick shift again.

03 Dodge Stratus R/T. Still trying to think of a name for her. Thinking Sally but that should be a mustangs name

I have always had a soft spot for the stratus RT with the 5 speed... But finding one thats RT, 4 doors and 5 speed seems to be a challenge.. I am not a stratus fan, but would love one to scoot around town in..

First thanks haro. And yes finding the r/t 4 door with a stick was hard back when I really really wanted one. Then when I decided to replace the Bonnie it just popped up on CL. Meant to be....

And Artie? Oh you mean for the name lol kind of fits actually lol.

That's a rare bird for sure with a 4 door and 5 speed - should be a fun ride! Just keep close tabs on that 2.7 - it needs religious synthetic oil changes and immediate attention if you ever get an oil light or any clatter at startup. They like to eat timing chains, oil pumps, etc. - I see a lot come through our shop with toasted motors.

Is it the autostick or an actual manual transmission with a clutch?

Actual manual with a clutch. The only "slap stick" I would own is one with the paddles. But yes it is a real manual with a clutch

Props! I never knew they came with one. My last car was a GTI with the dual clutch transmission, it definitely took it above the manual for me. Huuuge advantage at auto cross, and paired with a turbo engine it really moved.

Now you can do the SNL line: "I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS" at everyone.

the Stratus is a nice car. You might or can drive it in the place of the Bonneville, but it won't replace the Bonneville. jmo - BC
