Very, very nice!!!

IMO, all those naysayers that puked on the design when they saw it pre-production missed the reality of this car. It has a progressive and modern design styling without losing a very aggressive stance and look. Again, my opinion. Maybe it's the black that does it for me...I dunno.

Very worthy of consideration for a future car for our household.

So is it true that there are no gauges in the pod in the center stack in the 09 model?

Wowwwww....yet another cheapo move for GM. They should be ADDING and IMPROVING things model year to model year, not something ridiculous like this. A gaping, nearly useless, hole where gauges used to be? Atleast in the Holdens they were reconfigurable with other info, or they could have put in the HSV 3 gauge pod.

Guess I'll look for an 08 when that time comes. It just looks stupid to me.

The recessed area on the top of the centre stack NEVER had pods like the Holdens. The shape is the same between the 08 and 09's but they removed the cheesy Atari-quality red LED display due to several complaints.

I know that, I was saying they COULD have replaced it with the HSV 3 gauge pod, or the Holden configurable display, rather than just a silly looking random useless box.

If you want gauges... Put your own gauges in.. Not everyone getting this car needs gauges like this (most ppl "modding" it wont.)

I'd rather have a cheaper car I could put the specific gauges in I'd want, for my build, as opposed to whatever GM deems you need.

That logic makes sense, if the car WERE actually cheaper. But in fact, its the opposite. The G8 is MORE expensive this year (by a few thousand I believe) and you actually get LESS.

To me, it's ridiculous to get less content for a larger price. Not only is the base price more in 09, but so are all of the option packages. The problem for me really is not that they deleted the gauges, but that they just left a relatively useless hole there. They could have easily redesigned it into a covered bin or something similar to the Euro/Aussie versions.

Base sedan price went up $400. Base GT up $1365. It would probably be more if they left the guages in. Record inflation, adding XM and Bluetooth increased the price. There is at least one aftermarket 3-guage solution to them, but it's pricy.
