Factory Radio Setup in a house?

Factory Radio Setup in a house?

Post by PontiacBonneville2000 »

Hey guys,

I just recently installed an aftermarket radio and everything works well with that, but I was wondering what to do with my factory radio now...

I've seen people use aftermarket radios and a computer power supply to run speakers in there houses before. Currently I have a 250 watt, 14 Amp power supply rigged up to the factory radio, but when I attach all of the wires, the only thing the factory radio does is blink the theft warning light, and when I press in the Tone button, the display lights up and it displays the time. It will accept a CD and I have one of the front speakers hooked up to it, but I can't change the volume, or hear any music.

Is it possible that the radio is locked out because it was removed from my car? I have been looking into that issue, but my radio never says that it's locked, it just briefly displays the time for a few seconds before it times out.

Has anyone used a 2000 Bonneville SE radio in their own homes? If so, could they point me towards a tutorial?

I currently have a rigged up "male" connector that will insert into the rear of the radio...

The theftlock activates when removed from the car. Even going into another car it would need reprogrammed by a tech 2.

So what you are saying is that i'm basically at a lost cause?

Oh, and I might of accidentally blown the light on the display out... opps.

It already had 1 light out, and with my tinkering, I heard a pop, and now the display is much darker than before... :banghead:

Only if Theftlock was activated in the first place. Theftlock is not active from the factory until an owner puts in a code and sets it up.

Okay.... I'm the 3rd owner of the car, so I don't know if it ever had a code placed in it..

If the theft light was blinking, i'm going to guess that means that the a code was put in at one point?

My other main question.... If there isn't a security set up on it, why can't I play music or listen to the radio as it normally would?

Thanks for the help..

Andrew should have an idea of what's wrong. I know he can test the ones he fixes with a small speaker out of a greeting card.
Bye Bye:

To bypass theftlock for a benchtest, push Volume, Seek Up & #5 at the same time.

The light was not burnt out like I thought it was, it's just as it was before..

Thanks Haro, pushing Volume, Seek Up, and 5 at the same time did unlock it for a few seconds, and the speaker make a buzzing sound so I know everything works.

What are the ways to unlock a factory radio? Is the only possible way to bring it to a dealership and have them unlock it there?

Thanks guys..

I am not sure how the radio works in the 2001 with Bose but with the Monsoon systen, i read that the amplifier changes the volume, not the radio. You also have to have an antenna conected to the back to get a signal.
