Getting her back into shape.

Post by Brae »

My father purchased this car after the owner abandoned it at his repair shop due to a transmission issue he didn't want to fix (we had to completely rebuild it, the kit was $250. No pics sorry).

This is what it looked like on day one.

I noticed the cracking trim around the windows, This is only a temporary fix for now, but it looks tons better than before! I used plasti-dip (spray paint) to do the job, it took about 10 light coats but i think it looks awesome.

The front rotors were shot! The previous owner had complained of a vibration whenever he was braking.

Ouch:

Much Better:

I might go with drilled/slotted all around next time i get them done, not for the performance, but for the look.

We cracked the control arm trying to hammer out those rivets, they came out, but at a price of $50 for the new control arm :(.

There are a few more cosmetic things before it's 100% on the outside,

The gas door rust:

The previous owner left the hood bra on too long and the paint faded underneath, I'll have to get it re-sprayed (probably going to repaint the whole car.)

Put the bra back on, we're on the road & registered!

I have an exhaust leak that i believe may be originating from the front, probably the exhaust manifold, it makes the engine sound like crap, i'm sure it'll sound much better when it's fixed, and when we first topped up the coolant it seemed to be leaking from the water pump, but it's stopped (maybe due to low coolant levels) any comments, criticisms, etc are fine! Thanks for looking, and i'll post more updates to this thread as they happen.
