2005 SLE Bonneville AUX Question
Hi all, I'm new to the forum and have a question to help solve a puzzling question. I have more than one vehicle and in the past have been able to solve this without issue. However, my 2005 SLE Bonneville has got me totally stumped! What I want to do is see if I can use my iPhone 4S and the AUX to play my music from my phone through the stereo. Is this possible and if so...WHERE the heck is the "jack" to do this in this model? The factory stereo does have an AUX button on it but I can't seem to find the jack to use it. (Someone said the dash had to come out to get to it.. Oh crap hope not!
) That doesn't make any sense to me.... I don't have the owners manual or I would check there. I've looked EVERYWHERE for this AUX jack except the trunk! Anyone out there used an iPhone or an iPod in this model? If it can be done, PLEASE SHARE WITH ME HOW you did it!

Re: 2006 SLE Bonneville AUX Question
Welcome to the forum!!
First off, I don't think you have an '06 SLE. The last year for Bonneville's was 2005, so more than likely you have an '05.
Secondly, the radios in these cars do not have aux ports on them. I don't really remember off the top of my head, but there might be ways to add something like that. I'm sure there are a few members that have 2003 and ups with XM that were able to do something, by using the XM module. If you have a tape player, you could get a tape adapter and use that (not the best method, but the easiest).
I'm sure someone will chime in with more info, and if it's even possible.

Re: 2006 SLE Bonneville AUX Question
Hi Greg,... THANKS! Your right... It is a 2005 ... I hit a typo so thanks for pointing that out to me! -- No tape player in it either... Only has CD. Just don't understand why the AUX button in it but then I'm not very tech savy when it comes to stereo systems.
Thanks Greg, I changed the year to the correct one.

Re: 2005 SLE Bonneville AUX Question
Not sure why the button says AUX, I guess probably for the optional CD Changer.
Do you have factory XM Satellite Radio? It doesn't need to be activated, it just needs to be equipped. If so, it's not really that difficult to add an aux-in jack. If not, it's a lot more work...

Should be able to get a car manual here.
http://justgivemethedammanual.com/
add an n between the 2 m. Evidently that word is censored.
Aux. AFAICT, is for the CD changer/ XM. If you have one of those it's relatively easy to add a jack. If not the only option at present is to add a jack by way of the internal CD player. Look back in this forum to find how. Both are DIY projects.

00Beast ... Hi, yes, I do have the XM Satellite Radio! Is this aux-in jack something that's pretty easy to do or in your opinion do you think I should just take it to a shop and have done?00Beast wrote:Not sure why the button says AUX, I guess probably for the optional CD Changer.

DaMaroon ... Hi, you are a life saver too! Thank you for giving me the link for the manual. I appreciate it!

Re: 2005 SLE Bonneville AUX Question
You can tap into the doc-lock harness to use the Aux input. The CD player and XM use this input when you press Aux. The connector locations are A9 Blk/Wht (common) A10 (Brn/Wht L audio), and A11 Dark Green/White (R + audio). You have to remove the dash trim and radio to get to the harness. It only takes 5 minutes. The harness is harder to get to because it is behind the plastic housing of the radio.
Then wire the 3 wires to a 3.5mm stereo audio female jack and install the jack somewhere on the dash. I like to use the panel that has the heated seat switches and traction control just below the A/C controls.
If you do not want to tear your dash apart, then just get a cheap FM modulator. It plugs into the cigarette lighter and has a USB port to charge your iPod and a 3.5 mm audio jack that plugs into the headphone jack of the iPod. They cost about $10

Re: 2005 SLE Bonneville AUX Question
I ran mine to the trunk to the XM module. I have pictures and info somewhere....

It's not that complicated, not really sure if a shop would do that, being as it's kind of a weird mod.

Re: 2005 SLE Bonneville AUX Question
THANKS bobgto65 and 00Beast! Sorry I was a bit late getting to the posts, I've been away on business. Going to give the options a consider. I'm trying to get this stuff to work in two vehicles and I'm thinking of having both factory systems replaced with something a bit more advanced possibly.
