Driver's rear window motor inop.

Post by Bugsi »

I've been fighting this problem for a long time and I'm kind of at wits' end. Just looking for ideas to approach the problem that I haven't already done.

Problem: Driver side rear door window is inop. Does nothing (no humming, no attempt to work) from either the driver's door panel switch or from the rear door panel switch. BUT: Very rarely, it totally works for a day or two, then goes back to not working.

What I've done: I replaced the window motor last summer. Right after replacing the motor the problem was solved, and a day or two later it went right back to not working. Since then it worked once or twice but went back to not working.

I also replaced the power window switch assembly on the driver's door panel. I have a spare and swapped it in and there was no change in behavior. All other windows on the car work normally.

Ideas?

Maybe a crack/break in the elec. terminal/ plug's contacts ?? Have you tried operating it with alligator clip jumpers from a battery?

Could be getting stuck in the window guide channels. Try pressing the switch to open while punching the glass with your fist. This has gotten one of my stuck back windows to open when it gets stuck on occasion.

I've done that. It's not that.
