It's that time.

Post by Maymybonneliveforevr »

I don't know if it's a midlife crisis or I just need a change, but I think it's time to change cars. Although Cathy doesn't want to get rid of her Vigor, the a/c hasn't worked in years and she prefers not to go through another summer without a/c so next month the Acura Vigor is gone. As for the 97 Bonne SSEi, it's been replaced with a 01 Buick Century so I think the 40th anniversary may end up going to visit a scrap yard as I really don't have much interested in Kijiji/Craigslist lowballers. I thought about driving it one more year but it developed a brake line leak and I just don't have it in me to repair it, even though I have the material. Mind you if I looked hard enough I could find more things to repair but I'm in denial.

In conclusion, hopefully by this time next month the Vigor and Bonneville with go onto bigger and better things. Thanks for everyone's help and support but I don't plan on being a stranger.

I hear ya Frank, but hey, didn't you buy that SSEi for $900? I'm sure you put a lot into it, but it's served you a pretty *dang* long time and was a great value for your money. How many km's is on it now?

The Vigor was getting pretty rusty the last time I saw it, and that was at least a couple years ago. It's time! Now the question is... what's next?

The Bonneville is being replaced with a 2001 Buick Century and the Vigor is being replaced with what ever Cathy wants.

Yes, the 97 Ei was purchased 5 years ago for $900.00 and I initally put about $1700.00 into it and about $300.00 in the last couple years, the car owes me nothing and has been reliable. It presently has around 380,000 kilometers or 237,500 miles.

Yup, both the Vigor and the Bonne are rusting and Cathy is trying to decide what will replace her car.

For some reason I feel that the new Acura ILX with the manual transmission sounds like it'd be a good replacement for the Vigor, in spirit...

Just an update for those interested:

I drove the Bonneville to the east end of Toronto couple weeks ago to another Bonneville owner, (not on any forum). They mentioned they wanted to restore her, but that remains to be seen. I saved a couple of the used parts as I believe they may come in handy in the Century. I did request that they joing this forum, so hopefully they'll chime in one day.

As for a replacement for the Vigor, that remains to be seen and Cathy is still driving it.

Thanks for chiming in Mr. Jrs3800.

Cathy has given me her wish list which is basically everything the Acura Vigor has which includes;

Heated seats,
Heated outside side view mirrors,
Sunroof
Leather seats,
Power seats.
Comfortable and smooth riding.
4 door,
Pass through from rear seat to trunk,
Around the same size as the Vigor.
4 or 6 cylinder, (the Vigor is 5 Cylinder), she doesn't want an 8 cylinder as we have two of those.
Automatic, (Vigor is standard 5 sp)
Colour, red, white, black.

Obviously budget is a concern and I won't purchase new, rather something between 2009-2010.

Purchase should happen by end of this month........hopefully.

Hello Jr.

We already have a Buick Century but I'm sure she'd be open to other types of Buick's.

EDIT:

I'm going to take a look at a car tomorrow, it has everything Cathy wants althought it's about 5" longer then her Vigor. Will update on Friday.
