trunk release

trunk release

not sure if this is the right place for this but my whoever had my vehicle before me decided to dig out the key hole to the trunk and the trunk release button is not working. i checked the relay and it was missing so i took the relay from the park lamp and swapped them...nothing anything ideas?

Use a test light to see if you have power to the wires?

Do you hear a click from the relay when you depress the button? Can you get the trunk open? If so, have you checked to see if the connector is still attached to the latch?

i dont hear anything at all and i havent figured out a way to get into the trunk yet

So, it was relay 52 that was missing? Which one did you swap in. I'll check on my car and see if the relays are the same.

Those relays are compatible. Try removing the relay for the trunk release and see if at least 2 of the terminals have 12 volts. If they do, run a jumper wire between points 30 and 87, using the attached picture. Go by where the arrows are, not the end of the jumper toward the top of the picture. That should open the trunk. If it does, the problem lies between the button and the relay. If it doesn't, the problem is between the relay and the trunk release.
