Need ideas for mods!
Ive almost finished with my 01 sle project. As far as new AC delco fuel and ignition systems. ive also replaced most of the suspension, brakes, maf, etc. I still need to do the uim and lim gaskets and then im ready for some mods.
So, Im looking and asking around and im wanting to get all the hp i can from this n/a 3800.
Examples of what ive heard and seen on here listed below:
-downpipe with high flo cat
-have the intake ported
-cold air intake
Is there anything esle I can do? Is there anything I shouldnt do? would anyone recommend a performance chip? Feedback appreciated! thx.
On a quick note, does anyone kno the part # for the aluminum LIM gaskets or where I can order them from?

A couple things you can do:
HV3 insert: http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/9 ... nsert.aspx
Power log to replace the front exhaust manifold: http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/9 ... r-Log.aspx
maybe even a 3" downpipe too, though it's probably unnecessary for NA.
You can also get a higher performance cam if you're really willing to put money into it, otherwise there's extended ratio rockers: http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/2 ... ckers.aspx
And if I were you and were pulling off the lower intake manifold, I would also port the lower intake manifold. You'll notice right away once you pull it off that it is not the smoothest flowing piece on the engine. It's a cheap mod where you will definitely notice it after you've done it.
You might be able to find a lot of these things cheaper used, however if you're looking to go a lot faster then I would just do a topswap.

You will want to find a 2.5 inch down pipe if you can. A 3 inch will make you lose some low end torque.
I can't reiterate this enough: PORT YOUR LOWER INTAKE. ;D You will love it.

^ iv heard the zzp rockers are a junk.
X2 on the 2.5 down pipe. if your going to be that deep in there doing lim gaskets a cam and some intake porting would be nice.... at least a gasket match. those things are disgustingly made.

Are the rockers really worth the money? Do they give you the gains that they claim to?
And which ratio is preferred? Is tuning needed?

Re: Need ideas for mods!
For all L36 model cars, the 1.8 ratio ZZP ER rocker has been proven to make the most power constantly. If you want a roller rocker, 1.8 is the ratio you want for a N/A car. If you're supercharged, 1.9 is the optimum ratio.

Re: Need ideas for mods!
ZZP ER rockers are actually sized differently between exhaust and intake valves. IIRC intake was 1.8 and exhaust was 1.84. 1.8 ratio will be an improvement, but ZZP's mix of ratios is slightly better.
