Is that the sound of retardation at the top of 2nd gear?

I don't know what retard sounds like, the road does have some bumpy patches in it though and I did lift off the throttle. When we scanned last night we did see about 1.2 degrees at one point, but it was during a shift I thought. And I do have a bad motor mount (which contributed to about 10 degrees of timing retard when it happened to the LG3).

the first run the knock happened close to the shift, the second run had no knock at all through first and second, and the third run had a peak of 2.3 at about 4000 rpm in 2nd gear. These were all at WOT with the aeroforce reading close to 10 psi.

I'm sure that sound is just a characteristic of his transmission. I remember it doing that when the engine was in the lesabre when he had headers. It only does it when it shifts and it sounds sick in person

Ah crap. I didnt want damper issues so I went with an SFI powerbond one. Paid out the butt for it though. A lot heavier than stock, which certainly went against my normal theme. Hopefully I shouldnt have stuff like that happen with it.

i still cant believe how narly that harmonic balancer cracked so did you fix it yet?

I have a junkyard replacement and I'm saving up for the 8-rib replacement just in case. The balancer I had was not brand new, but there were no cracks or anything, though it looks like it explodered. Odd how the noise translated to the tensioner pulley.


I might play around with re-bonding it, just for fun to learn how they are constructed.

That would induce cooling if open at the back...but look like shoot.

flat scoop on a rounded hood is definitely a no-no.

The opening looks good, but the scoop needs to get wider as it goes further back on the hood.

You guys are making me have to really work my CAD skills, my software is terrible at surfacing... Yes, open in front and back. There would be a opening in the front for the cold air intake, and a vent in the rear right over the supercharger.
