SSAC Header Users!
Has anybody installed these on your bonneville? if so did you have any issues with fitmet besides the tranny dipstick? I saw a build thread from another member saying he had a problem and was wondering if anybody else has? Any info greatly appreciated! Thanks

Re: SSAC Header Users!
Would you be referring to my build thread?
I have gone on other forums where people have also noticed that SSAC is not what they used to be. It seems sometime recently They've opted to stop producing the SLP/Speed Daddy style headers that they used to produce. They now sell pacesetter/obx style headers, however they still have a 3" downpipe.
That is the only good side to them however because they don't even bolt up properly.
The front and rear headers seem to bolt on fine, however the crossover pipe isn't anywhere near to coming together properly. I have even cut and grinded the flange on mine in hopes that it solves the issue, but it looks like I will be resorting to heating them up to try and bend them to make them fit properly. Once it is actually lined up, I will also have to cut about 2" off of the rear of the crossover because it is also too long.
If these things actually fit, then it wouldn't be a problem at all; they might even be better than the previous design since these have larger primaries and the old design would scrape on the ground. However, they do not fit well at all as far as I can tell in my build so I would suggest staying away for a while. I would try to find a set of slp or speed daddy headers or something if you can get them.
One person spoke with someone from ssac who said they weren't even aware of the design change. Until more information is known, I would advise you to stay away for a while.

Re: SSAC Header Users!
I just installed a set of used SSAC's that are a few years old, and the fit was real good. I did tighten front manifold before the front cross over clamp, so I have a minor leak that I will fix when I have a minute. Wbody trans dipstick provided all the clearance needed.

Re: SSAC Header Users!
If you got them before the switch you should be fine, otherwise I'm sure you'll have some pretty big issues with the crossover.
This is the good style they used to sell:

These line up pretty well, with the only caveat being that the downpipe hangs a little low, though it's not an issue.
However, this is what they sent me:

This is the pacesetter/obx style they seem to be selling now. The only issue I have noticed so far is that the crossover pipe flange is in the wrong spot in the front. This causes the crossover to be misaligned the whole way back.
I have yet to come across any other issues with them yet since that's as far as I got with them, but I should have a better idea about them tomorrow after I try to bend them to the right spot tonight.

Re: SSAC Header Users!
From what I can tell, they didn't change the angle on the front primaries to match the crossover when they switched. Easiest way to fix would be to change the angle on the flange on the front header to match the crossover. Requires welding.

Re: SSAC Header Users!
I have the older SSAC's, I had no problems with installation besides the dipstick. What I have had problems with is getting the front crossover connection to seal properly with these *dang* band clamps.

Re: SSAC Header Users!
(sighs in relief) I was concerned with fitment as well, but "*dang* the torpedoes" i got em anyway, there's only 1way to tell if they'll fit. Will know soon, but I don't have the bolt-up crossover.3800Charged wrote:Bs009-YES!! Re: SSAC Header Users!
Good to hear they worked out for somebody. I was unable to make progress on my end. I've got the front crossover close, but I'm still waiting to weld it back up. Torching was a no go.3800Charged wrote:Well we installed them today, it was eventful, the fit wasn't great but they're in after a little fabbing and cutting lol

Re: SSAC Header Users!
So I heard from speed daddy today and they told me that they could possibly have their headers back in stock in 2-3 weeks. The headers they list on their site have a 2.5" downpipe though. I'm not sure if this also translates to SSAC selling them or not though.
Either way, I think it's good news for anybody who didn't already waste their money.

Well that's silly. SD's I had were a 3" down pipe.
