New GNX , Grand National

Talk about the other 3800 powered GM cars, particularly for items not covered in other sections that may be unique to your year/model, and differ from a Bonneville.

New GNX , Grand National

Post by sextrosgxp »

Seeing a lot of chat about Buick bringing back the GNX and GN. Anyone else heard this? If done, right I'd be open to trading in my GXP for a new GNX.

I did read something about that too. I think it would be an awesome idea! My very first car was an 85 Regal T-Type which my brother now owns and my dad has an 87 Grand National.

This is the article I saw...

I saw a rendering/conceptual drawing of a new GNX in a current car magazine, but they showed a sedan?!

Saw this too...

They need to remember a couple of things if they want to get any of us to bite...

2 door coupe
Rear wheel drive
:btruestory:

Unfortunate thing is this looks like they will slap it on the Cadillac platform, which means that true performance of this GNX machine will come at a V style $$.

I doubt it's a two door. I'm more interested in the engines. If they put at 2.0 turbo in it ....forget it. I'm out. I'm hearing the Lt1 in the GNX. If that is true... Where can I put a deposit down on one?

Why would it be a V8? They have an incoming 420hp twin turbo V6 that fits the character of the original. The Regal is expected to switch to the Alpha platform soon, which will be available as a coupe with the Camaro. Its all conjecture of course...

Though it could be true that it's coming back, the pictures in that article are actually photoshops. This was also discussed in another thread: http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 36443.html

They would have to make the TT six in the GNX faster than the V or the corvette though to truly bring it back.

If I could have it my way: A special Buick V6 tall deck aluminum block 5 liter stroker, cam-less VVT, direct injection. But mainly the 5+ liters in a V6 package to deliver the hammer. :hail:

Just saying. Some reports say the lt1 is going in the GNX. Also seeing the twin turbo in the GNX and a 321 hp v6 in the Grand National. If the GN is not turbo charged I'm not interested. At 321 hp. I'll just keep my GXP. 50hps more isn't worth it to me.

The more I read the more I believe this is happening. Look for a GNX to be debuted 2014 or even a confirmation next week.

growing up my dad had a Regal T-Type (silver) and a Cutlass Supreme (brown) one was traded in for a minivan, the other for a small pickup. I still enjoy looking at pictures. my dad did buy another Regal, about 12 years ago, a '90 GS and its just stalemated in our driveway, nobody drives it but we're keeping it. my dad will be retiring soon from the steel mill (40+ years) and he's mentioned selling the Regal and trading in the' 04 Trailblazer towards a new Regal GS. I'm sure any GN news will only persuade him more.

anyway, found this articlle. most of it has already been mentioned.

This T-Type was recently dyno'd at the Shelby shop at Las Vegas Speedway. The guys over there told the owner it is the most powerful V-6 they have ever had on their dyno. The reply to them was... "That's because you guys work on Fords!"
