Converted SSE

Post by myworld »

Hey guys i was curious on converting an bonneville sse into a ssei with just adding a supercharger. How difficult would it be and the cost. Or should i just go out and buy an ssei? Thanks

In your case you'd have to swap motors. Your L27 will not last more than a 1000 miles with the added stress of boost. If you have a 95+ N/A motor you could pull it off. Just go try and find a factory supercharged car. SSEis were not the only trim to come blown. We have seen SEs SLEs and SSEs that were supercharged too. Just gotta look around, but the SSEi will have the most options inside.

It's as easy as doing the full same-year drivetrain swap (motor and trans for the HD trans...), and re-pinning the fuel injectors IIRC. It's not a simple bolt on the SC type of deal. For the effort, I did the series 2 swap into my '93 SSEi. But I also did do a '93 L67 in the '93 SE. It's probably cheaper to just get a SSEi. Unless you have a low mileage drivetrain and you know the body on yours is in good enough condition.
