I'm in Islip, but I'm just learning as I go along. What kind of "stuff" do you need help with?

I'm about to do my headliner. I've never done one before but I'm pretty confident about it. I've been doing all kinds if research on it. I will keep you posted. If mine comes out well I can swing by to show you and/or give you a hand getting yours done if you like.

Re: Anyone in the long island ny area
The headliner came out good. here's what you need:
- molding / trim popper tools (plastic) from harbor freight $5.00
- headliner adhesive spray from pep boys $12.99
- headliner fabric from jo-anne's fabric & craft store (2 yards 14.99 each) $30.00
Jo-anne's stocks actual headliner material in a couple of basic colors at half the price of pep boys. The moldings pop off easily with the plastic popper tools. There were no screws in any part of the moldings. The visors, hand grips and overhead lighting had to be detached but was not complicated. You will have to fold the headliner form in order to get to out through one of the the rear passenger doors. Remove the old headliner from the form and thoroughly brush off all the old disintegrating adhesive. Apply plenty of new adhesive. Let the adhesive dry for a minute or two in order to get tacky (not more than 6-8 minutes). Apply the new headliner (get someone to hold it with you to put it on straight). Carefully press (no rubbing) all over to set it in the adhesive then let it dry. Trim the excess but leave an inch all around, flip the form over and glue the excess onto the other side. When that's dry, put everything back. If you want me to swing by let me know. Good luck.

When you initially take the headliner and form out if the vehicle try to bend it without folding it too much.

Re: Anyone in the long island ny area
Oh god you made it sound really easy what year is your Bonneville you have any pictures? I'm probably going to be out in Islandia this weekend working on my monte carlo, where is joannes fabric I've never heard of it. Was it an exact match in color? I need like light tan, if it's out east it's probably best for me to go over the weekend because I'll be out there. I'll try to tackle it and if I get stuck I'll message you I'm going to be out there all day Saturday. Let me know if you'll be around.

Re: Anyone in the long island ny area
There is a Jo-anne's in the same shopping center as bed bath and beyond in Babylon on Montauk Highway. I won't be around on Saturday but I will be around Sunday afternoon. I have a few pictures in galleries on this site. Search the galleries under pocolocobob. Keep in mind I am just starting to work on my car, it's a work in progress. My Bonneville is a black 1990.

Re: Anyone in the long island ny area
There is another thread on this site from someone else. This other thread breaks it down pretty well with more photos. It's not that complicated but time consuming. Take your time.
