Battery terminal replacment

Post by Grapes »

My battery + terminal started spewing blue and white acid, aside from burning a hole through my floor, it also ate the contact and bolt of the + terminal.

I had to drill out the bolt to get the connector off the battery, but not sure where/how to replace that terminal,

all i can find is top post universal connectors locally, no side post :dontknow: any ideas?

you can use a bolt if you can find one.
the "Help!" section of the parts store should have the

The acid won't do the cable any good either if it got inside.
I'd replace it or at least strip back to inspect/treat with baking soda. Then reinulate.

Any auto parts store will have a battery terminal bolt. If the terminal in the battery itself is bad, it's time for a new battery...

I bought a new battery, and a new set of bolts. My problem is the + terminal on the car it trashed

The front plate that would make contact with the battery and the red rubber sheilding is all warped and twisted, and if you look inside the red rubber cover where the wires come out there is still acid ooze.

Where can i get the connector to replace it in the car? the ground wore is fine, looks like new, the positive is toast.

Im not sure what happened, but i have never seen a battery pop like this one, like i said, it ate through my floor.

I can sell you the terminal, or the whole battery cable if you want. PM me.

How would i attach just the terminal, and whats involved in switching the whole wire? sounds like quite a bit of pulling apart

I don't know of a way to attach just the terminal, just throwing it out there.

Swapping the entire cable would be a lot of work, but it is possible.

You could splice a pig-tail of the end on to the old cable.
