The little things that make a big difference (poll)

Post by MOTO »

A poll designed to determine the best "bang for your buck" when it comes to little fixes that make a huge difference. Other thoughts welcome, these are just some options that have really impressed me.

Wheels and tires are the biggest eye catcher for me on that list, followed very very closely by cleared headlights and tail lights then wash / wax then clean windows.

Paint correction is more expensive then anything on that list, but really offers a huge improvement.

I would count clean windows as part of any wash. A wax a little less frequent, but if you do it often enough, helookshouldnt change much.

It always catches my eye when I see cars with really clean wheels and shiny tires.

if its a bang for the buck thing, then all of the above!

and for the most eye catching, it depends on colour, if your car is black, or dark blue maybe, then a good wax is most eye catching, if its a light colour, then the wheels would be the most eye catching.

Having a gloss black car, I would say a well done wash, wax, and buff really pumps out on my car. A little tire shine, and the thing glows in the daylight. Until the next day, when I can see all the dust being collected back on my car again. =/

I once heard "the first thing women notice are your shoes"
even if my car is a little dirty, I still apply some tire shine between washes to keep em lookin good.

headlights are another thing, I hate seeing oxidized headlights. ruins any vehicle's look.
cant say much for windows. mine have all been tinted, but I do try to eliminate water spots and use Rain-X

Yup, wheels and tires, it might cost you a scraped knuckle but it's worth it.

All of 'em. 1,2 and 4 should all be part of the same process, and 3 can make or break an otherwise nice car, especially with how much of a new car's front end is the headlights...

I'm really surprised #3 has no votes. My car usually rocks all but #2, because I absolutely despise doing windows, on the interior anyway. Yet I get paid to do it, go figure...

It was a very close call for me between #1 and #3, basically a tie but I could only pick one option.

Before seeing my SE on dealer lot would've gone with #1. When I saw the yellow headlights it made it hard to see anything else. In fact needing to find out what it was going to cost to fix, beore making an offer, was a large part of my finding this site.

Then again, I am a "headlights" guy!

Its hard to have cleaned and shined wheels when your's are black. The only downside of having a black on black on black car.

It's less about the color as much as they're a matte finish. The point of them is they're not shiny...

I hate shiny "wet look" tires... A good gel or dressing should make them black, and not attract a million things of dirt.

The biggest thing to make a car pop IMO is to make all the black/dark plastic things looking correct IMO. Dark tires, black plastic trim, cowls, etc. If they look dirty/grey it kills the contrast of the vehicle.

^That. I know when I had the chrome swoopies still, the car looked AMAZING right after cleaning those up. The painted white wheels obviously don't shine as well but looks great when it's cleaned up and some light tire shine. But I voted for the fogged headlights...that little difference really takes the age off a car when it's cleared up. Mine is suffering from that at the moment. Soon to be fixed though.
