HID lights

Post by JoeK »

I have an 03 Bonneville SE and i wanted to get those bright blue LED headlights.. but i don't know where to start. I know how to replace bulbs, but i don't know which bulbs to get and which ones are good.

Any advice on proper bulbs?

I heard the ZXE are just a hoax from other people online. I had bought the high and low beam Silverstar Ultra lights, and they seem to be a more crystal white as to the yellowish white the stock ones have. I think your best bet if you want HID's is to find some on Ebay or of the like that has a conversion kit for HID's.

I won't lie and im going to say i want blueish tint for aesthetic appeal to my vehicle. I don't care about brightness as long as it isn't less than stock.

Gonna make your car look like a low-rent POS.

And yes, it does hurt the lighting performance, ESPECIALLY in poor weather conditions, is when you want good lighting the MOST.

Well then whats the best way to improve the lighting in that case? I hate the standard yellow light given from halogen bulbs.

HIR LIGHTING

What is HIR?

HIR is a rather new breakthrough technology in halogen bulbs that allows twice the light output from the same voltage as their ordinary halogen counterparts. These lights use a special infrared coating on the bulb surface that reflects energy back to the filament causing it to burn more brightly.

For your car, use 9011 to replace your 9005, and 9012 to replace your 9006. These bulbs will function perfectly with your stock optics and not adversely affect your beam pattern.

For more information, including how to install them (they require a small amount of trimming), the science behind them, and to buy these bulbs, visit http://www.hirheadlights.com.

I believe pretty much everything has been covered here, if anyone thinks of anything else feel free to add it. Hopefully this saves someone time and money in their upgrades. If there are any other questions, ask...
HIR's will be more white, and give off better light.

One word: retrofit.

Basically you dismantle the stock headlights to fit projectors from a car that came with HID lighting.

I don't trust myself enough to touch the fixture.

I barely trust myself with trimming HIRs.... $110 for 4 bulbs.. :s... Are they worth it? Anybody got comparison pics of them?
