Last Set Before Winter?? UPDATED!!

Since I had today off and it was pretty nice out, I decided to work on the car and clean it up some. Last week I thought I blew a rear 6x9 (which are upgraded to Alpine Type S) which kinda bummed me since the speakers are only 2 years old and I don't listen to music loud very often. The speaker had an odd crackle which sounded like something was obstructing the travel of the cone. So I removed it, inspected it and everything looked fine. Put power back to it and now it sounds just like it always has. Not sure what the deal was, so I installed it and will see what happens in upcoming weeks.

I have also had a squeak coming from rear passenger door which sounded just like a cricket was in there. Removed the door panel and noticed the lock linkage had come loose from the plastic clip. Pushed it back in, lubed everything up and hope that cured the problem.

I then washed and detailed the car some leading to this: (It's not perfect, but not bad for an hour of work. Wanted to get pics before sun was gone..and I know, my headlights are needing some attention..)
































Over the past couple months, I have focused on making changes to the rear of the car. Haven't really touched it much until recently, so here's what it looks like now. There are 3 changes which have been made since the last time I have posted pictures. Some major, some not so major. (There's also couple minor things I have changed not posted yet, I will get more pictures and details on that later). So lets see who can guess what they are. Scott and Ryan..your not allowed to reply relating the changes!!







So there you have it. Possibly the cleanest my car will be before winter sets in.

Yeah, the badge might have been my fault, for not doing it myself. I've had a standing offer since it was installed to fix it next time I saw the car. I will do it!!

I think you guys have spotted the additions to the rear. The 3 additions are the GXP spoiler, Tinted Tail Lights, and the new "Pontiac" License Plate Frame.

As for the tail lights, I picked up a spare set of standard Bonneville tail lights awhile back for cheap. They have been sitting around and I have been contemplating what to do with them. I initially cleared them and continued on from there. I decided to light the center piece with both running lights and brake lights. This took several renovations to finally get output which was even and consistent across the entire light for both running and brake lights. Here is what the final product looks like. (My camera was having a hard time dealing with the light output. There's a lot of distortion within the picture which takes from the overall quality of the output. It also doesn't help the center reflector has different textures (shown below in pics) to disperse the light in different directions which the camera couldn't capture. I think Ryan will vouch for the way they look in person) But here's the pics, I think you will get the idea.

Another Image showing the final product: (You can see I painted over the lines with several coats of paint after the VHT was applied. This gave the light a slight 2D effect which looks pretty cool. Really makes them look nice at night!!)

At first I kinda had mixed feeling about the tinted tail lights on my car. But after a couple weeks of being installed, I'm really liking the look more and more. I like how the chrome from the cleared tails ties in with the chrome license plate cover and exhaust tips while the tinted tails ties in with tinted windows.
