Modified my headlights today

Post by BrianAbington »

I took my headlights out to clean the lenses. While out of the car I decided to do some work on them.

98,000 miles, sandblasted, cloudy

Pop off the clips then into the oven at 250 degrees for 10 min

Use a knife and pry the lens off the housing

I love this detail in the trim.

Black on the top and left and right edges of the housing that show when the hood is open

Taped off the orange reflector, then traced the longer oblong shape on the trim piece

Semi gloss black

Re assembled

Not really a fan of limiting light output. But to each there own.

Looks alright. What if you did two of those oblong thingamajiggies? To complement the corners.

The two oblong shapes wouldn't look right.

Honestly the only time it looks dimmer is when it's just the parking light and this doesn't really matter because if that light is on the headlights are on too.
With the turn signal it's plenty bright, especially since the light isn't obstructed from the side chamber.
