Hey guys...so this morning I replaced the coolant elbow that goes from tensioner bracket into the LIM, the old one had a slow leak. Everything went well, except one thing. The old elbow had completely broke right around the o-ring seat, so the end of it (I estimate to be about .25" long) was left in the manifold port. When trying to pry it out, I accidentally knocked it into the LIM.
Is this anything to be seriously concerned about?

Did you replace the lower one also?
It could pose a problem if it blocks off flow of coolant.

Re: Coolant elbow/LIM issue
I didn't replace the lower....it was in good shape still. I bought one just in case. The upper elbow @ GM here cost me $7.50...the lower $20! What a rip. So if it ever goes, I will replace it (fairly easy job) but in the meantime I am returning the new one.
How big are the coolant passages in the manifold? Would it get through and end up blocking somewhere else?

Well if def won't get through the radiator or heater core.
Not sure if you saw all the post about the new aluminum elbows? Been pretty relevant posts in the past month. Iirc they are $15 for the pair. That's the way I would go.

Re: Coolant elbow/LIM issue
I had wanted the Dorman aluminum elbows, I looked locally and online and everywhere was sold out right now.
So I took the car for an hour long drive on the highway, no apparent issues yet. Seems to heat up quicker with the new elbow in (could be in my head too). So I suppose with this elbow peice circulating around, I should keep a constant eye on my temp gauge from now on?

Yep...the elbow outer diameter is .875", with a .70" inner diameter and is about .25" long.
So if it blocked sideways, there should be still flow around it, and if it blocked straight coolant flow should be able to pass through the I.D. I hope!
