......And you're all going to think that I've lost it. First I'll take guesses... what did I do? And Joe cannot answer, he already knows...

Ok, so Ed was the only one that played along so far, and I'm actually kinda excited about this, so I'm gonna give it away. Went to a public auction today and spent some money I don't have on a car. I bought a 1997 SSE 40th Anniversary with a pile of miles on it. It has a couple little bugs that need working out. CEL which I don't think is a big deal, and the heat doesn't blow cold, plugged up heater core I think. HUD doesn't work, but that's not a huge deal. Otherwise everthing works, all the windows and locks, the AL7s, even the aftermarket remote start. I think it may have an external LIM gasket leak, it just shows a little oil all the way around, but the oil isn't milky, and there are no signs of contamination in the coolant. I probably paid a little too much for it, but it's gorgeous and clean.

I may end up with another car so we can get financing done on it, an 04 Grand Cherokee Limited. It has 140K but it's fully, fully loaded and it looks brand new. I'm undecided yet whether I'll keep the Jeep or not, but I'm pretty excited to have either no monthly payment, or an extremely discounted one...

This is a link to the Bonneville from the dealer that was selling it, but I bought it from auction so I didnt' quite pay that lol.

This is a link to the Jeep. My buddy bought this at the same auction, so again, deeply discounted lol.

Will do, Ed, thanks. And as far as the trans goes, it feels very very solid for the time being, and I can't imagine it would crap out just like that, so I feel like I at least have a little time before I have to worry about it.

Don't keep the JEEP! Those 4.7's are horrible. Some are reliable but they tend to blow headgaskets and try to find one in the junkyard. HA!

You lucky to find one with 120k+ for about $2000.

Lol Was very tempted to get one a while back myself until I found out about those nasty engines.

I've known more than a few people who have had really good luck with the 4.7s. I may hold onto it for a camper puller. I really can't explain how nice of condition the Jeep is in, and the Bonneville for that matter. Worst case scenario, I'll still be right side up in the Jeep, even over allowing for the Bonneville, and I can always retail out of either of them if need be. I'm undecided yet, but I'm thinking I'll hold onto the pair for the time being and see what happens.

My parents have an 04 Limited also but with the I6. THATS the way to go with a jeep, the 6 is bulletproof. But other than that havent had any problems other than regular maintenance. They bought it new in 04 and have 170K on it.

That SSE is an exact twin to my Grandma's 97 40th. Except hers had ghetto gold laces. :)

Lol at the jeep. "This is the vehicle for you if you're looking to get great gas mileage on your way to work! 4 Wheel Drive, never get stuck again." I sense some lies in this statement. :P

Yeah, I'd rather have the 4.0, but the 4.7 doesn't scare me, either.

You're borrowing money to pay for a 15 year old Bonneville with "a pile" of miles on it?

Hate to give you a rough time, but gotta play the other side here.
