Convert Chrysler PAC interface for Bonneville?

Post by statikregimen »

 Woo - first post! Didn't think I would, when I bought it, but have fallen in love with this car!!!

Anyway, this is a bit of an obscure question, but I just bought a Pioneer avic-f900bt on Ebay and it's coming with a PAC radio replacement interface for Chrysler (guessing a CHYAH08). The connectors are obviously different, but I've also bought just a plain harness for the Bonneville, so was thinking maybe I could wire the warning chime into that?

Has anybody tried this or have knowledge about it? My car is a 2004 SE, with no OnStar or anything to worry about. Currently just the stock radio+cd player (no tape).

These interfaces are pricey, so was just going to go without the warning chime in lieu of spending >$60 for one, but if I can get this Chrysler one to work, then bam! Profit :D

Thanks in advance!!!

edit:
p.s. I do realize how much of a long shot this is, but I just thought if the units only take raw on/off signals from the car, and doesn't have any data to decode, then this might work...

Followup:

Everything arrived... I just cracked open the PAC and the answer is no - it's pretty complex (couple of ICs, etc) and I very much doubt this would ever work, even if I had schematics. I did not realize so much depended on this unit...was under the impression they just handled the door chime, but nope!

SO, going to buy a proper one, because I didn't realize the accessory power was generated by this system, and that is a feature I kinda need...I mean, I got the new head unit working just fine, but the key has to be in the "on" position, which is a no-go for me.

Anyway, hope this helps somebody in the future, again, however obscure this situation may be :)
