Successful LIM job shots, thanks to all contributors!

Post by Backhoe »

Hey all, just wanted to say thanks to all who contributed their wisdom and even their own time (Myfirstbonnie) to make this job a breeze! Everything went smoothly, and I'm now in the process of getting her ready for winter, trying to find a set of steelies and some cheap rubber to save the chrome.

The tech article by BillButtermore (and others) was my main guide for this job, and it made all the difference, it even showed my mechanical magician friend a few things. I forgot to take a pic of the old gaskets, but believe me, they were original, and they were definitely starting to breakdown.

Good to see bud! I take it you didn't do any "clean-up" porting on the heads or LIM, just swapped gaskets and re-assembled?

For the most part it was an exploratory mission, getting familiar with the workings, but I plan on getting into it again in the near future for some cleanup in the SC and TB.

If you are gonna do it again I would just save up and swap in a GenV charger.

Gen V FTW. It feels so good to have the security of good gaskets. :)

You have a Gen III. The Gen V (5) came on the 04+ Grand Prix Supercharged with the RPO Code L32 motor. It's more efficient, essentially. It also requires more work than a direct swap, as the 04+ Grand Prix had an electronic throttle, versus the cable throttle the Bonneville's have.
