Another 300

Post by 2000Silverbullet »

While vacationing a couple months ago in Ontario, I once again rented a Chrysler 300.

This time it was a 2012 300S model with the 8 speed auto.
I was thoroughly impressed with that car.
1500 rpm at 80 mph and over 40 mpg from that 3.6L 292 hp jewel with a 7000 rpm fuel shut-off (shifted at 6750)
6.5 sec to 60
20" wheels
Heated and cooled cup holders
Dr. Dre 550 W sound system with sub
Panoramic sunroof
....still accelerating at 210 (130)

Drove it for a whole month. Loved it.
Would love it better with the 6.4L  .............but the 40 mpg would be cut in half.

A 300 is definitely on the list for my next car when the time comes...

yeah i will agree it was a nice car....

you just needed your hat on low and your gold tooth displayed and you would have been "Nationwide"
Tinted 13% Front 3% Rear, MSD Coils and Wires, K&N drop in air and oil filter...more to come as things wear/break!!

Tint it so dark, you won't even know your name

...with my new York brim and my gold tooth displayed, nobody gives me trouble cause they know I got it made....

If they still made a magnum I'd probably be interested to some degree. I still like them but I can't get over how much the feel like dodges.

Is that 40 US MPG or Imperial?

300 is definitely a nice car, but Chrysler is still not on solid terms....

44 miles to the imperial gallon or 6.2 L/100 km
For me it got about 1000 km (600 miles) on a full tank and cost me $90 to filll it at $5/usg

Yes not on solid ground...........I read the post about the Town & Country oil burning engine warranty work.

So that's ~36 US MPG. That's really dang good for a gas powered car of that size.

Yeah, that was an 07 T&C, but still.

Yea, 80k is about all you get out of them before they start falling apart just looking at them.

Regardless of model year, the Chrysler 3.3's and 3.8's were to them, what GM's 3800 V6's or small block Chevy V8's are/were to GM. Very few problems other than normal nuances.

Where they typically have problems are transmissions and electrical. I've had both among the two vehicles we've had. The Intrepid had a perpetual transmission leak due to a warped housing which Chrysler refused to address (it would drip down onto the exhaust... brillliant), and the final straw was when the clutch on the A/C compressor fried, literally catching fire one morning on the way to work. After which she was paranoid to drive it, so I got stuck with it until we found a suitable replacement. In the van, aside from the oil issue, it's been electrical and cheap plastics.

Stuff having been replaced or will be;
4 power sliding door cables
2 HVAC headunits
1 O/H console (where the D.I.C., homelink, map lights, and door controls are)
1 PCM reflash
1 power door lock actuator

While I will NEVER buy a honda or toyota (as those were the other two mini-van options available since GM and ford ceded the market), the huge selling point was the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty that we got with it. Without it, I would be hard pressed to buy a Chrysler product back then, and certainly will not be buying another one again even if that were offered now. Much less any warranty coverage less than that...
