please help, cant fix A/C blower or power steats!!!
hey guys, this is driving me crazy. i cannot figure out for the life of me why my A/C or heat wont blow and why the seats wont lean forward or back. this is in a 1993 ssei
seats first:
the buttons that make them slide forward and backward and a few other functions work but the most notable that wont work is the one that makes the back of the seat lean forward and back. there are one or two other functions with the seats that dont work either but i cannot remember what they are right off hand. but the leaning issue is biggest because they are stuck ALL THE WAY back which is extremely uncomfortable. when i push the button it sounds like they are trying to work but just cant do it. any suggestions? is the motor that does the work bad? how do i even get at it?
now for A/C and heater blower:
crank the car or just turn the key and hit the button for A/C or heat and the display shows it is blowing full blast but nothing comes out of the vents at all and the blower motor never comes on. we thought it was a bad blower motor so we pulled it out and it was bad for sure so we replaced it with a new one but it still wont work at all. we found a plug in that goes to the A/C right next to the shock tower on the passenger side that someone sometime in the past stuck a jumper wire in and left it hanging. i do not know if this has anything to do with it or not but i think its a good guess. the only problem is i dont know where to go from here.
what ive done:
i have checked all the fuses that i can find and i found a few that were popped and replaced them but nothing has changed and i dont even have a clue what those fuses were for. i checked them again before i quit and none had popped while i was testing. the blower motor was so stiff that i could barely turn it by hand so i replaced it with a new unit. it still does not come on. i hooked a jumper wire directly up to the blower motor and it comes on and runs like a scalded dog. it isnt a faulty blower.
i have done nothing with the seats because i dont even know where to start.
and the radio wont work either lol

the focus was my first car so obviously it has become my money pit and 580whp play toy.
i bought a kia soul to "grow up" and have something that is practical with a back seat and gets good mileage.
my wife brought the ssei bonneville into the mix to piss me off because it does everything the kia does better.
i then bought another ssei bonneville

This will fix your seats recline function - http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 12323.html
The other options that don't work on it are likely the lumbar and the side bolsters. Those are controlled by an air pump under the passenger seat, it hangs off the bottom of the seat and is in a black housing. The compressor gets seized up and just stops running. When I had my old 93 SSEi I took the compressor apart and cleaned it up also tried a few different lubes for it but it never worked for more then a week or so after before seizing up again. Bi wanted to try dry graphite for it but never did, I think that would work the best.
As for the other electrical gremlins, do a search for ground buss in the 92-99 section, common problem that can lead to all sorts of problems like you describe. There are even some threads that will have pictures showing you exactly what you are looking for. Basically the ground buss corrodes and then anything grounded through it loses continuity to ground and either works randomly or not at all. Not a guarantee that is your issue here, but the best place to start.

is the AC BLOWER problem with your 95? if so, is AC system the ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL? if it is ECC, then you might have a bad BLOWER MOTOR control module. it will be found on the firewall near the blower motor. there are many posts on this subject in this forum. search on blower motor control module. if you need more help, post back.

the blower motor control module can be found by removing the maxifuse/relay cover. it will about center of firewall under hood. once cover removed, remove two nuts from firewall that are holding fuse/relay assembly to firewall. pull the fuse panel forward to expose underneath the control module. can be identified by two connectors facing you when looking down. one has two wires the other three. the module is held in place by 3 sheet metal screws. after removing connectors and screws, the module can be lifted out by jiggling until the module clears the AC plenum.
Rock Auto carries the replacement for about $100. some members have been able to find replacements in junk yards for much less. unfortunately, i have never been able to find a jy module that was serviceable. post back for more info if needed.

Check the ground buss before buying any parts.

Re: please help, cant fix A/C blower or power steats!!!
ground buss? what and where is that? what exactly am i checking for and how do i check it? electrical is my biggest enemy. sling a rod, chip a piston, spin a bearing, anything like that and i can fix it easy. tracking down and fixing electrical BS is a big problem for me though. i just have a hard time wrapping my head around it.

I am at work right now and don't have time to search, but do a search for ground buss in either the electrical forum me 92-99 forum and you will see tons of threads, many with pics showing you exactly what to look for.
