Did some work on Frankenbonne 2.0 yesterday

Post by DarkShadow »

Started off by..

replacing the seats front and back
steering wheel
center console lid (with working latch w00t)
headlight switch
rear lower seat belt buckles and 3rd passenger seat belt
fixed the automatic headlights that never worked
fixed the turn signal cancel springs that were broken
the clockspring in the steering column to fix the steering wheel controls that would randomly change the channel or volume on the radio when turning the wheel.
cleaned the carpet
cleaned the engine bay
fixed the factory keyless entry
removed the stupid dealer installed alarm that kept going off in the middle of the night

And im sure theres some other stuff I missed lol

Now for the pics.

Looks good! I'd have said cloth is a downgrade, but anything has to be better than that trashed leather...

I agree on the downgrade, but finding leather in good shape is impossible and the cost to have them recovered was too prohibitive. I could not justify spending $500 a seat to have it done, which is what I was quoted. Got everything from the junkyard for $180 :dontknow:

If I really want, CoverKing still makes fitted covers for these seats in leather but they're quite pricey too.

ugh 88, the black sheep of the 87-91 body style, crappy steering wheel, seat controls, sound system etc. I wouldnt consider one of those for a swap, too hard to find parts for.

I have been defeated sir. :ballkick: I shall now recede from the battle.

But yes I understand. I have been trying to find the bumpers and cladding at junkyards and i just can't find anything....except for that one time....
