1997 Bonneville need help
My 1997 Bonneville just died while driving down the freeway at 70. No warning just suddenly the engine shut off. It would not start back up, the engine was turning over but it would not startsounded like I was not getting fuel. An hour later after a lovely tow truck ride home and once its back in the garage it starts right up. So now I am very confused. I can hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key on. So I don't beliece it is the fuel pump. I can't afford to take it to a mechanic so any help would be great. I am going to change the fuel filter. I have also had som issues with the security system, but I changed out the ignition and got a new key. So what else should I be looking for? Any other suggestions on what to do?

My guess is there could be rust in your tank/filter or maybe the connections for the pump are a little loose. It's never anything easy lol

Re: 1997 Bonneville need help
Sounds like and ICM or CPS. They tend to do this once thewy warm up and then work fine once cool. Go to a JY and get a used ICM and swap it out to eliminate it.
Is this the first time it has happened?

It does sound like a cps to me also.
